INTERVIEW

1. How would you describe your sound?
“Our sound is defined by other people as cinematographic techno. When I read it for the first time I thought: ‘Hey, that's a good one.’ If you ask me I would say: Deep, melodic, groovy and always a warm melody on top to which you can hold on to.”
 
2. Where would you love to play live?
“We performed at Rainbow Serpent this year. In our opinion it is a mixture between Burning Man and Fusion where we are probably going play there this year, fingers crossed. I would say those two and Tulum, Mexico, is also on the list.”
 
3. Favorite track of all time?
Andy: “That's a tough question, there are so many great tunes to pick from. As we are a duo we both have a different background. For me the tune of all times is ‘La Musica Tremenda’ from Ramirez (Dj Ricci Remix). For that moment in time it was just top-notch and so good produced. Timeless.”
Igor: “My favorite track of all time is ‘Drane’ by Autechre. I can always listen to it.”
 
4. Dream collab?
“Again, a tough question. So many great artists to choose from. I would say Max Cooper, but we had the privilege to remix him already. Stephan Bodzin, Patrice Baumel or Amon Tobin would be interesting, too. Hard to pick one though from all the artists in the world.”
 
5. What makes you laugh?
Andy: “Igor of course and I hope he would answer the same to this question!”
Igor: “Ha! True story!”
 
6. What is your trademark?
“Warm melodies and basses, straight and groovy beats and micro edits: That's our production trademark. When we play it loud we have a lot of fun without losing concentration and focus. We like to smile, and we like it even more when people smile back at us.”
 
7. Next release?
“Einmusika, ICONYC, Submarine Vibes and a lot more to come, because we don't ever stop creating what we love most: Music!”

The art of music has touched the hearts of human beings around the planet for thousands of years. It's a universal language with the ability to express what can't be expressed through words or thought. It can induce strong emotions, alter our states of consciousness and let us experience reality in a different way. It can draw us into the present moment, where just the music exists - unfolding through time, moment by moment. When we let go and merge into the auditory sensations, it takes us on an inner journey. Using this not to escape, but to fully embrace reality as it is, music can help us release tensions and bring balance to our everyday life. 
Especially dance music allows us to unify with the flow of the music. When we express the energy it releases within us, by just giving ourselves to it and following the spontaneous and authentic movements of our bodies, we can experience a state of connection, peace and joy. Doing this collectively, synchronously moving to the same rhythm and sharing this special experience, we feel a connection that resonates within.

With DIT KLINGT JUT we want to express our love for music and manifest the meaning it can have for all of us. We do this by providing a thoughtfully curated space for artists and labels to share their music, organizing events & live-streams and serving as a platform to share ideas on music and the creative process.

If you’re looking to enhance the soundtrack to your evening with a slow-and-steady helping of house music, look no further than New England’s own DJ Ra. Hailing from the outskirts of Boston, DJ Ra boasts two decades of experience behind the decks. He is revered for his consistency both in his musical programming as well as the club nights and live streams he orchestrates. Whatever the occasion, you can be confident DJ Ra will wield the best cuts from his vast musical library to keep things moving and grooving.
DJ Ra’s sets explore the intersection of house, techno and progressive. Minor-key melodies take the forefront in his selections, many of which are laden with layers of synths and powerful, feel-good breakdowns. Sparse vocal chants and occasional tribal drums add further texture to DJ Ra’s sonic journeys, which work particularly within the context of a proper afterhours. The four-on-the-floor rhythms are woven together through DJ Ra’s seamless blends, which respect the integrity of the music itself while guiding the listener to his destination. Stick around long enough and you may be surprised with a helping of acid, a trance arpeggio, even the motif of a Dirtybird-style track.
The list of clubs whose decks DJ Ra has graced is plentiful. After cutting his teeth in humble restaurants and sports bars in the early 2000s, DJ Ra soon graduated to Rise and Therapy, two institutions respective to Boston and Providence. Often performing alongside DJ Aktiv under the name Neovision, DJ Ra opened for the likes of Desyn Masiello, Emjae, Deka, and Midas at these venues. The past decade has witnessed DJ Ra expand his resume with appearances at Avalon (Boston), House of Blues (Boston), The Phoenix Landing (Cambridge), Red Door (Portsmouth), Pulse (Providence), Sky Lounge (Nashua), and UnchARTed (Lowell). DJ Ra currently resides as a regular guest at The Keep (Lowell). He has also played occasional gigs outside New England as well as private parties hosted by Tradecraft and Exit.
In addition to his club presence, DJ Ra commands a similar presence online. His Soundcloud page hosts dozens of mixes, recorded both at home and live, with a cumulative play count well in the thousands. DJ Ra’s mixes have been featured on Sur Frisky Radio, Tradecraft, Offbeat Radio, Proton and Exit. In 2017 DJ Ra launched Dragonfly Recordings, an outlet for local artists to showcase their DJ skills via Facebook livestream. Also, as a producer, DJ Ra has released original works on labels such as Tulipa and Opto Digital. 
With frequent local gigs, guest mix appearances and his residency at The Keep, there is no sign of DJ Ra slowing down any time soon. Even with a day job and family commitments, DJ Ra makes plenty of time to share his passion for music with as many people as possible. His trusted and timeless style of execution is a force to be reckoned with.
