You Find It Easy

A single chord that I wrote as a project on the NYO Winter 2015/16 residency being played by the orchestra, followed by my favourite variation on the chord which came out of the workshop. 

Orchestral chord

This piece was composed for a call for scores for the St Andrew's Voices festival in autumn 2015. My piece was selected for the composers' workshop at the festival, with the ensemble Voces 8. This is a recording of them singing the piece through for the second time, after some discussion with myself and the composer Philip Stopford. (The workshop nature of the performance means it isn't exactly how I would want it if it were polished - but also it isn't far off because they were awesome).

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (feat. Ditte Elly)

This is the piece I submitted for my first year free composition module. 

Written for string quartet, French horn, clarinet and trumpet, it draws on an Allen Ginsberg poem as a source of inspiration in a fairly abstract way. This manifests itself as an exploration of contextualising a melody using textural and timbral subtleties. The piece is made up of several sections which, whilst distinct in their context, flow into each other and overlap.
