#ottmusic is an initiative that brings local music to the City of Ottawa's phone system. When a caller has to wait on the phone, we want them to hear your music!

The City of Ottawa is furthering its commitment to providing new opportunities to Ottawa's cultural community, while offering residents an enhanced experience when calling the City. The City wants to help musicians reach a broader audience and to show musicians our appreciation.

L’initiative #ottmusique offre aux musiciens locaux l’occasion de faire diffuser leurs compositions par le système téléphonique de la Ville d’Ottawa. Lorsqu’un appelant doit demeurer en ligne, nous voulons qu’il entende votre musique!

Grâce à #ottmusik, nous poursuivons notre engagement à offrir de nouvelles occasions à la communauté culturelle d’Ottawa, en permettant aux résidents de vivre une expérience unique et enrichissante lorsqu’ils téléphonent à la Ville d’Ottawa. Nous tenons à aider les musiciens à atteindre un public plus large et à montrer combien nous apprécions leur musique.

To celebrate 2000, I took a year off to write songs, novels, plays, and stories - and I've been doing that since. At the end of my first year, I won first prize in the USA Songwriting Contest in the Lyric Category for 'Drum Machines and Beauty Queens.' This led to co-writing songs with many excellent musicians, including those represented in songs posted here. 

More recently, I was one of seven finalists in the Crisis Lyric Category of the 2021 UK Songwriting Contest for 'Lockdown Blues,' and one of nine nominees in the 2021 International Song Awards with 'Didn't the River Know' and 'Blue and Gold.'

For the past two years, I've been collaborating with many talented musicians on Kompoz. I release many of these songs here and compile the best into albums released under Captain Stormfield's Trip on Spotify and other platforms (see links below).
