I am really excited to share this mix! This is my live set from the Wednesday into Thursday morning sunrise at Burning Man 2014, closing out Camp Charlie's annual Unicorn Rampage party from 5-8am-ish... 

Listening to it back, I feel like each track brings back memories of each part of the journey. I remember being nervous to take the car out from the packed Sunset Trip stage (Go Soul Atomic!). The late night deep house vibes as Charlie drove towards the trash fence in darkness, arriving in the wee hours of the morning at The Last Outpost. The sun bursting over the horizon. Hugs and more hugs from old and new friends. Everyone suddenly wanting to get down and durty! And the race against the heat as we traveled back to camp. Ahahaha! Thank you to everyone who was there with me. It was definitely a morning I will never forget!

What’s not to love about Monkey Safari? The duo from Halle, Germany have been favorites of ours for as long as we can remember. In terms of Desert Hearts lore, their song Hi Life was the song that played when we celebrated our first Sunday Sunrise 2.5 years ago. It’s been an anthem at our parties ever since and every time it’s played we’re transported back to that glorious morning in the Mojave. To have Monkey Safari finally play our party was like a dream come true for us and they delivered on a monumental scale. The Sunday love vibes at our Spring Festival ‘15 couldn’t have been better as they crushed their 4pm time slot between Justin Jay and Rodriguez Jr. The party and vibe couldn’t have been better as the Desert Hearts Community surprised Sven and Lars with 100+ monkey and banana suits for the occasion. Dawn Diaries is inspired by the belief that the best way to start every day is with a celebration of the sun that shines through the darkness, our bodies that feel the warmth and the music that moves us. How we wake sets the tone for our day and how we live each day sets the tone for our lives.

To start our days in celebration with music and dancing has the power to transform us, unlocking the ever-present freedom, love and happiness that can easily be muted by our daily routine. My hope is that Dawn Diaries can be a part of this transformation.

Dawn Diaries are mini-mixes that go great with coffee, morning showers and getting ready for work. Solo or group dancing, bouncing, singing and smiling are all highly encouraged.

Over the years, I played a few tag team sets with our little acorn. We would always say, its sort of weird how they work in this strange way. My theory was that we were 2 sides of a coin. He was this boy who knows how to be really emotional and I was this girl who was all about being really boss. LOL! Hearing every questionable mix (we were tired ok!) or funny song selection takes me back to these early morning hours. I'm glad I have this as a final goodbye to my friend <3 <3 <3
