Sometimes, when the right kind of techno plays - my shadow self comes out. He's the guy that savours a cigarette outside a night club, goes where the night calls, and is the part of me that my parents wouldn't want to know about.

I call this alias of mine "Dark Divi." He comes with a signature evil laugh, and made his first appearance behind the decks recently.

Dark Divi presents "Berlingabba"

On Feb 20th, 2021 - Australia lost an important artist: Big Stu, frontman of the band 'OKA'. One year later, I would like to share this tribute to a man who stood proudly in his roots, spread his kulcha far and wide, and made us dance to the music that made him happy.

My friends & I were lucky to catch Big Stu & OKA live on December 4th, 2020 in Koah. Little did we know that it would be one of his last gigs. I was lucky to meet him for a minute after the show. That minute has inspired me for a lifetime.

I know that Big Stu lives on with us through his music. So here's a 1 hour mix featuring OKA's music only 🙏 Thank you to Bonnie & OKA's family for giving me your permission & blessing to create this tribute.

The Oka Mix

Hey friends,

I just moved on from 2 months in Bir - the village that flies, in Himachal Pradesh, India. 

I went there to think about what I want to do next, following the launch of my debut album “Moments of Clarity.”

But it turned out to be one of those magical dreamlands where you don’t think - you just do. 

On my third day there I jumped off a cliff, only to have my crippling fear of heights melt into the ecstasy of paragliding through the Himalayas. 

This fearlessness continued, and I soon found myself stepping behind the decks to guide a conscious & present crowd through ecstatic dance.

This set, Mast Pahadi, is inspired by that experience. In Hindi, Pahadi means mountain person. And mast means great. I had a vision of a genderless spirit - living in harmony with the mountains. 

When I shared the name with my friend Nirjhar - he reminded me that Mast is also someone stuck in a state of trance….of ecstasy.

So kick off your shoes, and turn up the volume - as I guide you through an audio journey which mirrors the peace I felt in Bir, the pulse beneath my feet, and a glimpse - into the ecstatic.

This is Mast Pahadi.

A few months ago, Australian Senator David Leyonhjelm made a speech thanking the Young Brown Men that drive his Uber's & deliver his pizza. Naturally, I decided to sample it and throw it over some Nils Frahm. The result had me inspired, and the result is 'The Urban Turban'

I was born & raised in Danddeli, a small town amidst the jungles of South India. Every year when I visit - I feel a deep sense of peace & grounding there, and it refreshes me for the year ahead. With everything that's happening in the world at the moment, I realised I can’t be sure of when I’ll next be able to return home.

So when @eclectic reached out to me to livestream a DJ set, I thought I'd get my inner mowgli to channel the hypnotic peace from that jungle.

I’ve been in love with sound for the past 7 years, but for some reason - I’ve always been afraid to finish songs, perform a DJ set in front of people, or basically just - put my name to a piece of audio.

My greatest passion has always been my deepest insecurity. Until now.

A few months ago, I happened to visit a tarot card reader and he recognised this fear of mine. He said that in October, I would get an opportunity to play in front of some friends. He said that them viewing me as a DJ/Producer or a musician - would give me the little spark I need to get over this fear & unlock the greatness that lies beyond. 

And sure enough, on the 1st week of October - one of my best mates - Sam Henry, better known as Shenry, happened to throw a party in a beautiful farmhouse nestled amongst the mountains behind Byron Bay, Australia. On the Sunday, when everyone was just relaxing, soaking up the sun, and gathering wood for the fire - I got the chance to step up & curate the sunset. 

It was actually the first time I’ve got to play with my gear that I know so well & love so much, my beloved Traktor S4, and in front of people. Suddenly, I felt fearless. 

This is that set.

Sunset at Eden

November 28th really was the best day of my life so far. My mate Vinnie & I threw a combined birthday festival in my backyard. I made my dream lineup filled with my talented friends and to my surprise - they all said yes. We created a jungle, invited 50 of our favourite animals, and had a 12 hour party that I'll never forget. This was my daytime set from the party that I like to call "Triple Distilled Sunshine". It channels the pure happiness I've been feeling lately, the bliss from unemployment, and is an ode to Brisbane's sunshine.
