PUSH beat was one of my first deliberate solo tracks.  I made it the morning of my first official solo gig at a weekly IDM night in Orlando called "PUSH." I wanted to work the night before the show date to come up with a piece that could serve as the center piece of my set.  Instead, Swam and I got into a really involved discussion that lasted til morning.  At the end of the conversation I had a revelation, "I dunno, man, Music just helps me learn so much about life."  To both Swam and my surprise right after I spoke this matter of fact revelation, I started balling at the poignancy of it all.  I'll never forget his reaction.  With a surprised look he exclaimed, "DUDE! You just made yourself cry".. .hahah.. After we both laughed it off I turned to my MPC and immediately made this beat.  It was so fluid that it was almost created in realtime.  In fact, the way it's arranged here is very close to the way it was created.  This must have been 2004 or something.  Many OG Solillaquists of Sound fans will know it well because for years it was the defacto introduction to any performances of ours (search on youtube and you will see a ton of footage of me performing this).  Years later DJ Scientist from Equinox Records release it as a 7" in Europe.  And around the same time our homie Maker mashed it up with Big Boi's Kryptonite and would play it at some of his gigs..  I recently had Maker dig up that version so I decided to throw it up on my soundcloud for this week's #NewTunesTuesday.  I'll put up the original sometime soon.. Either way, enjoy.. this is a pivotal piece of my musical upbringing.. Not too mention the irony in the title of the track.. A foreshadowing to my future as a PUSHr and Ableton PUSH lover. As a founding member & producer of Orlando-based Hip Hop group, Solillaquists of Sound, DiViNCi first gained notoriety by using multiple MPCs (drum machines) in ways the world had never seen before. The virtuosity displayed in his frenetic performances & popular youtube clips set inspiring precedents for the now popular “controllerism” scene, aspiring electronic musicians & music fans alike. Eventually, his work both on & off stage caught the attention of GRAMMY award-winning icon Ms. Lauryn Hill, who tapped DiViNCi to join her band & studio team in 2011.

As a public speaker, DiViNCi enjoys sharing his passion for creativity & process with those looking to develop not only their craft, but their careers as well.
