Alien Vampires - Far Away

Deep beyond the stars, a synthetic alien race known as the Xyloids thrived in a world of discipline, logic, and music. Their existence was a perfect blend of crystalline intellect and titanium sinew. For centuries, they measured their strength and skill through peaceful contests—most captivating among them were the battles of sound, where technology and rhythm fused into powerful new expressions.

Yet, despite their mastery of mechanical harmonies, something was missing—a dark, chaotic pulse that stirred the soul rather than just the circuits. That changed when a beam of light, resulting from a solar corruption from our sun, carried a radio frequency from Earth, pierced the void towards the xyloid planet Threxilon, and delivered the haunting rhythm of Dark EDM and industrial techno. The pounding basslines and eerie synth textures disrupted Xyloid calculations and awakened a primal fascination.

Inspired and transformed, the Xyloids engineered new instruments and created music that fused their precise algorithms with unpredictable glitches and the raw intensity originating from Earth’s underground. This fusion birthed a new sound—haunting, vibrant, and alive.

Driven by a desire to test their evolution, two prodigious DJ engineers embarked on an interstellar journey to Earth, equipped with crystalline decks and sonic technologies capable of manipulating space itself. Their mission: to meet the best talents of Earth's dark electronic scene and engage in an unprecedented music battle — a clash not of violence, but of rhythm and creative brilliance.

The legendary underground club "Shadow Protocol" became the arena where this cosmic showdown unfolded. Under neon lights and industrial shadows, humans and Xyloids confronted each other through their sets. Xyloid tracks reverberated with cosmic precision, intertwining mechanical patterns and alien harmonics. Earth’s champions answered with gritty analog warmth, intuitive chaos, and raw power.

As the night progressed, the boundaries between machine and flesh blurred. The battle intensified in waves of layered harmonies and thunderous drops, culminating in an improvisation that fused cold cosmic pulses with primal trance energy. The result was not conquest, but unity—a shared language spoken through the universal power of music.

As dawn broke, the dancefloor transformed from battleground to common ground. Humans and Xyloids mingled as equal creators, exchanging ideas and sounds, heralding a new era where light, bass, and code coalesced into a limitless future.

Kontravoid - Undone

One can imagine, listening to Kontravoid’s latest release, an alternate reality in which the cold-war played out to the background of drum machines and spectrographs, sinister audio technology manipulating a hidden frequency of the world’s unfoldings. Cameron Findlay returns to his masked alias for the first Kontravoid release since his debut self-titled album, years in the studio reap their rewards as the production on ‘Undone’ effortlessly cuts its way through hypnotic dance floor compositions.

‘Hold Nothing’ implements perfect song structure, with precise breaks, ferocious snare builds and simple repeated vocal phrases enveloping the main groove in symbiosis. A playful criminality sets the mood of the record here, one for pouted lips and furrowed brows on bunker, basement dance-floors.

‘The Last Thing’ is a straight forward dance floor stomper, arpeggiated synths batter the listener like blunt instruments, locking the body in a rhythmic cell, dissonant, steam whistle drones contrast with gurgling, radio transmission synths to shift the balance of the parts from uplifting wooze to downcast dance automaton.

‘Not Your Dream’ opens with a moment of primitive, science-lab techno, echo laden vocal jabs open the door to new-beat territory while the synth lines swing between pure rhythm and hypnogogic, alley-chase sound track, clocking in at seven and a half minutes, this is another track destined for synth-wave, dance floor greatness.

‘Undone’, the self-titled track from the release focuses on softer-synths and pads, still motivated by driving drums and percussion, the vision of a lone, masked figure emerges, cutting a path through mud and snow, factories half submerged in some destroyed, industrial miasma. Muttered vocals set a strict grounding to the piece, keeping the track from escaping into sentimentality, layers of cold synth melodies artfully weave between percussive crescendos as radio static crackles distantly.

As a natural companion to the record Schwefelgelb close with a remix of ‘Hold Nothing’, where the percussion is stripped back to its bare necessities and the synth parts are sliced down into even more pointed arpeggiations.

With his concrete approach to song writing and bear-trap grasp of dance floor composition, Kontravoid cements his reputation as one of the stand out voices in the current new-beat, synth wave scene.
