My first CD, this was recorded live during a special power yoga session at Hilltop Yoga in Lansing, Michigan in May of 2009. The yoga class was taught by Hilaire Lockwood - thank you! I provided the musical soundscape for the class. This was a single take, non-stop. Nothing was pre-recorded - every sound you hear was created with one violin, live, on the spot. 

I was never sure how I would create my first CD, since the concept of trying to create magic in a stale recording studio with no audience seemed artificial to me. Yet I had so much music to share! This was one of the first gigs where I happened to record it, and I felt such wonderful energy flowing throughout. When I clicked to stop the recording at the end of the yoga session, it was perfect to fit on a standard CD! 

Yoga has helped me in so many ways, and I was especially inspired when I realized that I could help in the healing of others. This was a milestone in my path, and something I continue to focus on today. 

COSM was inspired by the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors – artwork by Alex Grey. A Prayer for the Soul of Layla was inspired by bellydancers dancing to the music of Jamshied Sharifi. Secret Agent was inspired by the iTunes radio station of the same name. Other songs were inspired by love, nature, the human spirit and the cosmos.

Recorded live in 2010 at the Burning Man festival, which takes place in the middle of the Black Rock desert.  Performances included those through a makeshift sound system powered by a 50 pound battery pack, which Dixon dragged by hand on a wagon through the dust.  Imagine the CD case you are now holding covered in sand.

The first time I participated in Burning Man was in 2005, and it was life-changing for me in many ways.  One of these was musically, in that the event encouraged me to express myself, my true self, and for the first time I tried to create my own music, improvising from my heart, rather than reading the sheet music of others.  When I realized that I could deeply connect with others through my own music, it profoundly affected me, and I thereafter changed my life priorities to allow more room for music in my life. What had been a hobby was now a passion, and I haven't stopped since!

Every sound you hear was created with one violin, live. Nothing was pre-recorded, and very little edited in order to preserve the original sound as heard live.

Recorded live during the DAMNED show in Detroit in October 2014, which is an amazing "exhibition of enlightened darkness" that I've been honored to be a part of since it's inception (see http://www.thatdamnedshow.com).  In addition to stunning visual art, there are performance vignettes throughout the evening by some of the areas most creative and talented performers.  I highly recommend the event - there really isn't anything else like it in the country.

I provided the musical backdrop for each of the performances this particular night, and the music was entirely improvised based on the energy each vignette suggested.  Towards the end of the evening I co-created with a dear friend, Ms. Chantal, of Masala Dances (see http://masaladances.com), who provided a stunning movement performance...while covered in mud.  The effect was amazingly dramatic and the audience was mesmerized - although it was actually freezing cold for her!  It was truly a magical artistic moment, I'm thrilled that the audio recording of it turned out, and I'm honored to share it with you.

The world's premier visionary violinist, Dixon's life mission is to inspire people - and he has done so across North America, including giving four TED talks/performances, over ten years at Burning Man and Electric Forest, plus radio, TV, and film appearances.  A former technology leader and symphony violinist, Dixon walked away from a distinguished career to follow his dream full-time, and invented a whole new music genre.
