Vandemons – a new collaboration between Singaporean singer Vanessa Fernandez and Australian RBMA alumni Dee Norris – first originated in the Malaysian jungle, where the duo met for a 10-day jam session in early 2016. Now, their project is coming to fruition with the ‘Self Titled’ EP on Medallion Sounds. “Can You Go the Distance”, the third track on the record, features Australian rap veteran N’fa Jones and is steeped in radiant optimism, blissful rhythms and infectious melodies.

@planetedetroit presents ‘Mother’, a four track EP from Slum Village co-founder, former Bling47 label boss and current head of the Dirt Tech Reck label, @waajeed. The Detroit native has worked previously with Theo Parrish, Mad Mike Banks and Amp Fiddler, and in 2017 held a residency at Detroit Love parties across the globe.

‘Mother’, featuring Detroit singer-songwriter Steffanie Christi'an, is driven by an arpeggiated synth lead above shuffling percussion and heartfelt vocals, whilst ‘Earth’, a collaboration with the enigmatic Blaktony, takes a moodier turn with stripped back drums and syncopated keys. ‘Obba’ rides a melodic bassline into the cosmos, whilst ‘Frances’ offers a soothing dose of otherworldly disco funk.

Additional mixing on the EP was provided by Planet E head Carl Craig. 

Waajeed premieres his live show at Movement Festival in Detroit on May 26th 2018, at the Detroit Love stage.

So, it is late at night. What left is just a dimmed light at the side of your bed. You open up a book, and then, gradually, and quietly, your thoughts started to move along, with its stories, and your “stories”…..

"Stories" is the first vibraphone solo album by Berlin-based Japanese artist Masayoshi Fujita, who also known as El Fog and a collaboration project with Jan Jelinek. This quietly exquisite album by Fujita, is like a book of illustration, painting 8 delicate pictures of small stories about the nature we are embracing….cloud, forest, river, swan and morning dews….things that we all are so familiar with, but yet so quaint.

Masayoshi Fujita’s style of solo vibraphone is uniquely inspired by classic and jazz music. In this beautiful album, in additional to some gorgeous strings and bowings, he also introduced some ingenious ideas in making unique sounds, like the usage of bead and aluminum foil on his vibraphone, like a prepared instrument. As such, “Stories” is a wonderful result of the beautiful vibration (of which the name Vibraphone came from) of all the delicate sounds produced in this album. They are poetic, they are melancholic, and they are lushly emotional.

Let the dimmed light continues on, and let Fujita tell you these wonderful stories.

BAMBOO DEMO

A track I wrote back in 04 when I was recovering from a broken neck and possible quadriplegia. The docs prescribed me Endone for the pain so yeah I was high as a kite. Also the first track I ever wrote on Ableton Live for the record! (My logic license ran out when I was in hospital...) Thought Id put this one out there for you all! As you can prob hear, I was really into edits then too ...

Cokiyu’s long-awaited single, 'Haku', is finally here! The title of this single, 'Haku', is actually a brand new demo song by cokiyu after her critically acclaimed 2nd album, “Your Thorn”. Started from'Haku', cokiyu then invited 3 of her favorite artists, namely Baths, Geskia! and LASTorder to collaborate using materials from 'Haku'. In this collaboration process, new ideas were born, new sounds were injected, new dimensions were created, and thus, 3 new songs were conceived.

'Twinkle Way' is a very charming duet with the popular artist Baths (anticon label) from United States, along with sweet beats and fluffy vocals. 'Pulsation' is the result of the beautiful collaboration with flau’s beats producer Geskia!, whose popularity in Japan has been rising rapidly. And the 19 years old young gun LASTorder (who is known for his collaboration with Shingo2) joined forces in the 3rd song, “Fluorite”, with some gorgeous and yet dramatic arrangement.

The single is completed with a 9-minutes epic remix by Kyoto’s most talented young beat-maker, Madegg, who recently released his debut album “Tempera” in flau label.
