"Losing Time" is the story of a young person trying to convince someone else to drop everything and go on a journey with them. It is a metaphor for feeling trapped by boring, routine daily life and the feeling of going through the motions, and trying to break free of the regular cycles that many people fall into. In trying to escape this 'trap' they also hope to convince one of their friends/loved ones to see their perspective and have the courage to break away from society with them. The path people are often expected to follow is to get an education, work a 9-5 for 40 years, and retire old and miserable, and this song is about refusing to fall into that lifestyle. The music is very upbeat and hopeful while the lyrics seem dark, and this is meant to represent those same sentiments - that everything around you may seem bleak and depressing at times, but have hope that you can take control of your own life and change it for the better.
