Doing these mixes every week has brought me closer to this music. I don't think I expected that but it is pretty special to me now. I love it. Thanks guys! 
 In honor of our 52nd episode, we have a very special guest. Please welcome DARCIIDARKA....I'd have to say that me and Darcii didn't exactly hit it off when we met. I was rude. we had BEEF! ...Straight thuggin for real. hahaha. Then we met in person and squashed that shit in 2 seconds, mixed  B2B for 6 hours at a festival, and became fast friends.  Fast forward to right now. Darcii is like a sister to me. She's the shit. I'd have to say she is the reigning Queen of Central Florida dnb. Iv'e seen her upcoming bookings and she's about to be busy...like really busy... like she isn't already. Not only does she run her own successful dnb monthly, (Renegade Sound, Gainesville) She's also the hardest working DJ I know. She's everywhere! DARCIIDARKA is a Drum & Bass DJ originally from Burlington, VT who currently resides in Gainesville, FL. Darcii translates as ‘the dark one’ in French and over the years acquired the nickname Darka. In her earlier years she performed at underground raves, festivals and nightclubs all over New England and hosted several residencies. Within the last two years she has made waves in the southeast, sharing stages with LTJ Bukem, Bryan Gee, Jumping Jack Frost, Mampi Swift, DJ SS, DJ Craze, T.R.A.C., Aphrodite, The Prototypes, Matrix and Futurebound, FAVA, Dieselboy, AK 1200, Dave Owen, SOLA, Jaybee and Monk just to name a few. Representing the genre proper, she is the founder of the legendary monthly event ‘Renegade Sound’ at Signal in GVL and is resident DJ at both Signal and historic Simons. Making moves Darcii & Renegade Sound hosted the World of Drum & Bass 2023 Tour at Simons in Gainesville and several other events. Whether she is out playing shows or home recording mixes, promoting the genre or supporting her peers, she is extremely community driven and one of the hardest working artists in the state. I can't remember where I met this weeks guest or how I met her. Another proper legend in our little culture. Representing Turnstyle Records, the RVA, and  East Coast American Drumnbass please welcome     JOANNA O
  Joanna Oremland, also known as the DJ Joanna O. has been mixing music for ravers since 1998. She is a USA DNB DJ who has an infectious vibe both on the dancefloor and behind the decks. Her sound can best be described as soulful liquid vibes with a hint of jungle flavors. She prefers to “speak with her hands” by mixing well.

Her store Turnstyle, an all vinyl record store & street wear clothing boutique held down Virginia’s Capital City in Richmond from 2003 – 2016 with the freshest selections. Her FM Radio residency Frequency airs weekly on Saturday nights on 97.3 FM WRIR. The show has been a staple on the airwaves in Richmond since 2005. As an event promoter, she has worked tirelessly to support the community of DJs, performers, and dancers at some of the East Coast’s most renowned dance music venues and events. As a DJ, anyone who’s ever been on her dance floors can attest that her sets have always been pure fire.

Over the last two decades her hard earned mixing skills and supreme selections have earned her slots alongside many of today’s most inspiring drum & bass artists. Joanna delivers a  true voyage in sound that covers the full scope of Drum & Bass. With no chance of slowing down, Joanna will continue to spread the word of drum & bass through her mix series, radio shows, club & rave sets in Richmond and beyond.

I haven't had the opportunity to meet this week's guest yet but I hope to at some point. She's a whole vibe and my new favorite DJ. I have been playing this mix almost every day since I got it 2 months ago. The amount of raw soul coming through is really special. Please welcome Toyacoyah. She's is an indigenous DJ known for blending ancestral rhythms with modern breakbeats. She began her DJ career in the late 90s at the University of Oklahoma, curating beats for her own drum and bass radio show. After moving to Austin, Texas, she became a resident DJ for Mental Note, a night dedicated to liquid funk and jazzy drum and bass. Now based in Chicago, she continues to share her passion for fast-tempo music across the Midwest. Toyacoyah has performed alongside top producers like Addison Groove, Luke Vibert, LTJ Bukem, Roni Size, and Tim Reaper, delivering sets that span electro, breaks, juke, jungle, and more.

I was lucky enough to be a dnb raver in Washington DC and Baltimore during  the late 1990's and early 2000's. It was only years later that I came to realize how extra special that period was for DC dnb and its own roots and culture. This weeks guest played an integral part in building a lot of that. It's really humbling to share this one with ya'll. Please welcome, R4NS0M. Originally hailing from the storied Washington DC drum & bass scene, Boston’s R4NS0M has been at the forefront of the American drum & bass movement since its early days. Over the course of his career, He’s performed at legendary events like Buzz, Ultraworld, Resonate, Eklektic, Platinum, Respect, Elements, and Cadence, and crafted mixes for Toronto’s iconic Prophecy FM and Winslow’s Bad Snares Anonymous. As a producer, he’s released music on such labels as Moving Shadow, Ohm Resistance, Soul Deep, Detached Audio, 1 More Thing, WiddFam, and 4 Corners Music, and worked with a number of artists, including Sinthetix, Corrupt Souls, UFO!, Ben Rolo, Fake, Dvalue and Metcalf. With decades of work under his belt, and a decidedly individual take on the drum-n-bass sound, R4NS0M continues to cement one of the more unique legacies in the history of the genre as a creator and pioneer.

I met this weeks guest on the dance floor at a rave. I love that.  I was promoting for an event or handing out stickers or something and I asked him if he was into DNB..He pointed at his T shirt and laughed..then I saw it and I laughed and instantly is was like we had been friends for a long time. Thinking back, I can't remember what was on that shirt at all lol. He introduced himself and it turns out I had been seeing this guys name on flyers for a few years now.
