The Art Of Seduction

Between 1997 and 2004, Philly was the hotspot for neo-soul music. I was in grad school at Temple University then and often visited this spot called The Five Spot, where every Tuesday, they had live performances from mostly local Philly artists. The cover was only $5, and for that, you would get to see artists like Jill Scott, Jaguar Wright, Kindred and the Family Soul, The Jazzyfatnastees, The Roots, and many others perform with local house bands. Those were some of the best years of my life. This mix features the type of musical vibes being played weekly. The set was called Black Lily because it showcased mostly Black female artists who were being shut out of jam sessions around the country then. Enjoy:)
