Stevie Wonder’s Pastime Paradise is a socially conscious track from his critically acclaimed 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life. Produced by Wonder himself, the song features a unique orchestration with a choir and a haunting melody driven by synthesizers. It tackles themes of social injustice and fleeting dreams, making it one of Wonder’s most politically charged songs. The track gained further recognition when Coolio famously interpolated it for his 1995 hit Gangsta’s Paradise, earning Grammy success.

Bow Wow’s Like You, featuring Ciara, was released in 2005 as part of his fourth studio album Wanted. Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, the song is a smooth R&B/hip-hop ballad detailing a deep romantic connection. It became a major hit, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart. The track helped cement Bow Wow’s transition from a child star to a serious artist in the industry.

South African rapper AKA's track "Fully In," from his 2018 album Touch My Blood, showcases his dynamic artistry and significant influence in the hip-hop scene. The album's production credits include notable names such as Master A Flat, Tweezy, Tazzy, Kiddominant, Anatii, Gemini Major, DJ Maphorisa, Makwa, Buks, and additional production by Julian McGuire. 

 "Fully In" exemplifies AKA's commitment to pushing musical boundaries and solidifying his legacy in South African music. Fans can look forward to an upcoming remix of "Fully In" as part of a larger AKA remix project, celebrating his enduring impact on the industry.

Angie Stone is a pioneering figure in neo-soul, known for her rich, soulful voice and ability to blend classic R&B with contemporary sounds. With a career spanning over four decades, she started in the 1980s as part of the rap trio The Sequence before transitioning into songwriting, vocal arranging, and a celebrated solo career. Her 1999 debut album Black Diamond introduced her distinct blend of soul, jazz, and hip-hop influences, earning her a place among the greats of modern R&B.

One of her standout tracks, Baby, was released in 2007 as part of her album The Art of Love & War. The song, produced by Co-T (Co-Tee) and Angie Stone herself, is a heartfelt duet featuring Betty Wright, embodying a timeless soul aesthetic.

Additionally, Mary J. Blige’s 2022 track Breathing, featuring Fabolous, was produced by D’Mile, known for his lush and soulful production style.

Originally released in 1984 as an a cappella track on her album Solitude Standing (1987), “Tom’s Diner” by Suzanne Vega is a minimalist storytelling masterpiece. Written by Vega and produced by Steve Addabbo and Lenny Kaye, the song paints a vivid picture of mundane life in a New York diner, which later turned out to be Tom's Restaurant in Manhattan — famously used in the TV show Seinfeld. In 1990, UK producers DNA remixed the track by adding a beat, giving it a new lease on life and making it a global hit. The remix marked one of the earliest mainstream successes of sampling and remix culture.

Released in 1970, “Funky Drummer” is one of the most sampled tracks in music history. Drummer Clyde Stubblefield laid down the iconic breakbeat that became foundational in hip hop. Artists who sampled the track include Public Enemy (“Fight the Power”), N.W.A (“Fuck Tha Police”), Run-D.M.C., LL Cool J, and Nas.

I took Clipse’s hard-hitting “Whips & Chains” vocals and flipped them over Dr. Dre’s classic production “The Setup” to give it that unmistakable West Coast feel — raw, cinematic, and full of bounce. The result is a gritty mashup that blends Virginia coke rap with Cali drum science, creating a cross-coastal sound that knocks with attitude and soul. I’ve always loved reimagining classics, and this one felt like the perfect combo to breathe new energy into both tracks. Chains & whips (The setup edit)

South African born Ricardo Nunes, better known as DJ Azuhl, has become a household name on the South African Hip Hop and DJ scene. Being introduced into hip hop culture in the mid 80s he’s progressed from a dancer to member of the iconic South African band, B.V.K (Brasse Vannie Kaap), a DJ with Africa’s iconic DJ group The Beat Bangaz (alongside Grandmaster Ready D, E-20) & now owner and founding member of the Beat Bangaz DJ Academy based in Cape Town. Known for specializing in Hip Hop, he also has the ability to move crowds across genres of music ranging from funk, soul, dub, house, rock and mashups. He also runs Beat Bangaz Radio a Cape Town based internet radio station specializing in Hip Hop music.

He has opened and performed alongside international artists like Kendrick Lamar, Mos Def, Kanye West, Jay Z, Coolio, The Whooligan, A-Trak, Black Eyed Peas to name a few while also touring Europe annually since 2007 performing at various clubs & festivals like Miami Music Conference (USA), Hip Hop Logique (France), Pukkelpop (Belgium), Schoolyard Breaks (Germany), Battle of the Year (Nigeria). 

Major South South African events and festivals include ULTRA Music Festival, Rocking the Daisies, Sizzled, Back to the City, Red Bull BCOne, Cape Town International Jazz Festival, KKNK, Oppikoppie, South African Music Conference, Rand Easter Show and countless corporate and club events.

He’s signature mixes are featured on Good Hope FM and 5FM respectively - two respected commercial radio stations in South Africa, with a monthly mix slot slot on UK based radio station ’ThisisWestSide FM’ as well. Currently running Beat Bangaz Radio he also has a weekly radio show on the online platform.

Besides DJ accolades Azuhl impresses with a couple of number one singles on Good Hope FM, one of Cape Town’s biggest commercial radio stations & award nominations like the 2017 ‘Best Hip Hop single’ with Early B for the prestigious Afrikaans music award show, ‘Ghoemas.’  Whether it’s providing production, remixes or scratches for  artists like YOUNGSTACPT, Proverb, Hemelbesem, Early B, Zubz he has become a sought after collaborator with expanding his scope with other music genres beside Hip Hop.

Currently he is also running an NGO with DJ Eazy, HHESA (Hip Hop Education South Africa) that’s been responsible for various international cultural exchanges since 2008 & various school projects in Cape Town with a strong emphasis on youth development using Hip Hop culture.
