The uplifting 'Rote Nacht' (A1) reveals the contrasting energy between the tumultuous city and the silent mountain, before gently giving way to the feelings of the exotic seascape in 'Essaouira' (A2). Delicately, yet suprising as ever, Acid Pauli rearranges the warm drums in 'Essaouira' (B1) to let your spirit rest in an imagined, green oasis, before it’s completely taken away by the lightness of the seabirds in 'Taghazout' (B2).

Through ties with the likes of Glenn Astro, Muff Deep, Brandt Brauer Frick and CTEPEO  ́57, Copenhagen’s Tartelet Records have become a coterie for an auspicious breed of modern-day oddball. Opting for analogue gear, the Tartelet mainstays bring together lopsided sampling and loose- limbed rhythms suffused with a distinctive degree of resistless energy.
Shapeshifting with each record, the releases continue to roll behind the success of Max Graef’s ‘Rivers Of The Red Planet’ LP. The next instalment comes courtesy of a previous collaborator with Max - Nigerian born vocalist and songwriter Wayne Snow. Now a resident of Berlin and with music as his liberator - Snow stands at a comfortable vantage point where escape from a tough past is visible.
Now in full flow - his first EP ‘Red Runner’ sees Snow drop a deluge of soul over grubby Rhodes tones, contorted melodies and tumbling drums backed up by remixes from Glenn Astro and Delusions of Grandeur regulars Session Victim.
The title track rubs Snow’s harmonised vocal lines against choked horn stabs and chugging guitar flashes while Glenn Astro & Imyrmind inject some mangled synthesis and Session Victim pack in a rhythmically tight revision that remains pinned under a persistent 4/4 throughout. Blue Moon brings things to a close as it softly gallops like a Dilla record making use of stuttered shuffles and granular drum samples.
The first of it’s kind - ‘Red Runner’ is a collaborative project between Tartelet and Comet Records. Based in Paris, Comet specialises in bringing a myriad of Afro Psych Rock sounds together and are lauded champions of the Afrobeat revival through close affiliation with such luminaries as drummer Tony Allen. A positive step for both camps - Wayne Snow’s EP is the inaugural step for a promising artist and an enlivening insight into things to come from both Comet and Tartelet.

The backing of Kerri Chandler isn't easy to come by, so it's no surprised Voyeur are rated so highly. 

We first got a taste of Benson Herbert and Leo Pickings' groove-licked house sound back in 2012 when they released the 'Blame It On The Youth' EP on MadTech, the sub-label of King Kerri's Madhouse Records. The man himself didn't stop at giving it the stamp of approval, though, applying his magic touch with a Club Mix.

This collection of underground dance music covers tracks released between 1975 and 1983 from both sides of the Atlantic. The tracks chosen for this compilation introduce some of the pioneering few who expanded the horizons of disco to incorporate elements of dub, funk, electro, jazz and Latin. In some ways many of the artists featured here foresaw the birth of successive musical genres. There is no disputing that they were all well ahead of their time and with the recent trend of similarly inspired house they sound as fresh today as they did then.

The music chosen for this album were the underground classics that made the scene what it was in the heady of days of the Paradise Garage and the Loft in NYC and the Warehouse in Chicago where DJs such as Arthur Baker and Francois Kervorkian could be heard spinning such tracks.

On disc two (CD version only) Masters at Work add their touches to one of their favourite tracks while Harvey and Underdog take on the Disco Dub band and come up with two very different interpretations which will work on today’s dancefloors.

Balthazar is an alternative pop band! Pop mixed with rock and beats that is. They were formed at the end of 2004 in Kortrijk, Belgium. In their short career they’ve won almost every local talent competition, impressed a sold out Ancienne Belgique in the critically acclaimed national band contest: Humo’s Rock Rally 2006. Result: a lot of gigs (including festivals like Dour 2007, Dranouter 2008 & Marktrock 2008) and live performances on various national television shows. In the summer of 2007, they had their first single “This is a flirt” (only available on iTunes) which was a great succes, with a number 2 top position in “de afrekening”, the alternative hitlist of the belgian radiochannel Studio Brussel, and the most played song for two weeks. The second single was released in february 2008: “Bathroom lovin’: situations” (only available on iTunes). Next to their own beloved Belgium, they had gigs in the rest of Europe (France, Germany, the Netherlands, Swiss,...) and recently did a splendid tour in South Africa. But of course, a band needs an album, so in october 2009, they'll start off the recordings of their long awaited debut album. Look out for it early 2010!
