Aktuální mix měsíce připravil americký grimeový producent v1984. Jak se daří tomuto britskému žánru ve Spojených státech? Tentokrát pro mix měsíce připravil producent z Clevelandu, který si říká v1984. Patří k několika americkým producentům, jejichž tvorba je výrazně ovlivněna britským grimem. První nahrávku vydal spolu s dalším americkým postgrimeovým producentem Rabitem, který se minulý rok objevoval na předních příčkách mnoha žebříčků, u dublinského vydavatelství Glacial Sound. To vede Paul Purcell, který se rovněž zapojil do následujícího rozhovoru. Label Glacial Sound sice před nedávnem skončil, ale znovu se zrodil pod názvem Glacial Industries. Kromě již zminěného Rabita a v1984 se díky labelu podařilo prorazit třeba londýnskému producentovi Murlovi. Nejznámějším releasem byl nejspíš společný singl Rabita a grimeového MC Riko Dana s názvem Black Dragons. První nahrávkou, která vyšla na nově obnoveném labelu, je dvanáctipalec od v1984 s názvem Becoming N(one). Jedná se o jeho debutové album. Delikátní ambientní plochy zní jako dialog vzdálených entit, které se střídají s hrozivým burácením basových úderů. „Jednotlivé songy jsou určitou formou meditace a přemítáním nad sebou samým,“ vysvětluje svůj přístup Christopher Ramos aka v1984. Předkládaný mix spojuje mimo jiné Smashing Pumpkins, Rabita, Beyoncé, trapového krále Futurea, ale také nevydané skladby od v1984. Mix je volně ke stažení na našem soundcloudovém kanálu. To celebrate the launch of her debut EP, Ruptured Pulse, i-D invites Sydney producer Jikuroux to take us on a journey through her favourite sounds. This mix dips the shimming voices of all of your most beloved Pop Princess — Britney, Ciara, Fergie — in some sort of primordial ooze, so they're distorted and dripping wet. It's punctuated by metallic clangs, and deep cavernous crashes: there's a city collapsing outside, but Jikuroux will stay inside the club while it all falls down.
