I have a pretty full backstock, but anyways – just by chance – I’ve chosen ‚Nexus 21 - Life Keeps Movin’ as a representative 1st timer.

Until today I thought this is an underestimated Kevin Saunderson record, which lacks the pop-appeal of the Inner City hits. Surprisingly it turned out: Nexus 21 is a former Altern8 project. And at least Kevin did some remixes on a re-release 12" on KMS. However or even more it is more flowing in a mixed set. And generally my edits will try to serve the DJ’s demands, so I kicked out the badly sung chorus, kept the refrain, extended the acid elements, built some climax and did some classic beat juggle editing.

Usually I try some re-mastering as I often got the original from vinyl (that’s soooo 80ies!!!).

In fact there was no need but stereo expanding and reducing the high peaks for you.

Well, that’s it. The track (formerly a song, :-]) didn’t become fresh, but rough as we can stand old school house today.

Franz Scala - One Way Love (Italo Version)

A couple of things this week made me revisit this edit. Firstly Greg Wilson featured it in a 'Festival Anthems' selection he recently uploaded to Mixcloud - http://tinyurl.com/d6yvsbc - and secondly it was featured in the closing scene and credits to this weeks episode of Mad Men. The combined effect meant that a fair few people have been downloading the version I uploaded here 3 years ago (which was also only available as a low quality MP3), so I thought it apt to give it a 'spit and polish' and make a remastered WAV version available for download. 

Even if you downloaded my original version you should grab this too as the remaster kicks like the proverbial mule!  :)

DJ Dmitry is known internationally as a DJ, producer and co-founder of the seminal New York dance group Deee-lite. In 1990 they released their worldwide smash hit, Groove Is In The Heart, which still packs dance floors today and which Rolling Stone Magazine recently called one of 10 best dance tracks of all time. After releasing five albums, eleven number one dance hits and touring around the world the group disbanded in '95. Dmitry continued DJ'ing, moving crowds around the globe from Hong Kong to Jerusalem and from Berlin's Love Parade to Brazil's Rock In Rio. He was given a DJ of the year award in the party capital of the world, Ibiza.
DJ Dmitry has made remixes for many artists including Arthur Russell, Jungle Brothers, Sinead O'Connor, Ziggy Marley, Nina Hagen, Ultra Naté and others. He collaborated with Julee Cruise (Twin Peaks/ David Lynch) to release the album "My Secret Life". DJ Dmitry is currently based in Berlin where he continues to DJ, compose, produce and re-mix.
