ソウルミュージックのメッカ、メンフィスと同じテネシー州のノックスビル出身ソウルシンガーCandace Bellamy（キャンディス・ベラミー）。ノックスビルから音楽が盛んなテキサス州のオースティンに移住した彼女は、医師として働きながらテキサス大学で1年間音楽を学び、ボイスレッスンを受けるなどストイックに音楽を追求。ゴスペル、ソウル、ブルース、ジャズにロック、カントリーを融合させたレトロでパワフルなスタイルを確立した。その実力には自然と注目が集まり、Stevie Ray VaughnのコンポーザーであるRuth Carterや、Sly StoneやJimi Hendrixらとプレイした伝説的ベースプレイヤーJimi Calhounらが彼女とコラボレーションし音楽制作に力を貸すことになる。そうして2010年にリリースされ、Soul Tracksでも絶賛されたEP『 A Thousand Shades of Blue 』 に続いて完成したのが『 In My Lane 』 だ。「よく医師という立派な仕事があるのになんで音楽をやるのか聞かれるんだけど、答えは簡単。音楽を愛してるからよ」と述べるCandace Bellamyの音楽愛に溢れた新作がついに登場！
