Following up from work on Björk´s 'Fossora', Icelandic trio 'sideproject' debut on SVBKVLT with their new full-length album 'sourcepond'. Taking influence from the fog-covered wetlands of their native island, sideproject transfigure influences from the low-end frequencies of grime and bass music, and reshape it into a haze of transient-smeared beats accompanied by breathy synths that grow ever wetter till they slip beneath the surface tensions of their harmonic stratum. Compared to previous output, 'sourcepond' opts for a more concise approach to their music, stacking up their influences of experimental electronic, Icelandic punk and contemporary club music, and builds a sound that oscillates between melodic hooks and experimental rhythms. Each track carves through the sensuous material, pulling the listener into the dank sourcepond as though magnetic forces were guiding a bird's beak towards misty horizons.

Novi Sad based DJ and event organiser Pirinač is distinguished by his rhythmically diverse and explosive sets. Pirinač’s style of matching and mixing music stems from his favorite video games, which shaped both his private and musical persona. Ultimately, the goal is not only having an arsenal at your disposal, but using and blending it infinitely, with no fear of experiment and without limitation. Starting in his hometown Zrenjanin and formerly a member of the Ferka collective, he’s been part of the local underground for a while - notably performing at Raprave season 0 opening, HiddenBG invites Jensen Interceptor and Mostly joking invites Hajj. Hе’s been part of the Gomila collective since 2023, and more recently a part of the Slutka collective. He is also the main organizer of the mini festival and event series, Shades Marathon.

The unifying theme amongst my Magic 8 guests is that they are busy, and GENG PTP certainly fits the bill. He's a community organizer, visual designer, label head, sound engineer, teacher, archivist, DJ, musician, and has been at it in the DIY trenches for a long time.

Recreational DJ kicks it off with an hour of deep bass and techno grooves, with a couple of detours just to keep you on your toes.

GENG PTP takes over the second hour. He says "it’s actually two mixes stitched together that i found on tape earlier this week... documenting not only a time when i was experimenting with analog tech as a means of archiving/back up, but a time that a good few of us have been fondly reminiscing on concurrently by chance/coincidence... bringing that sound back but yea now w tape saturation and hiss (even better).
