REVOLUTION 

The largest protest recorded in human history is happening right now in New Delhi, India in order to repeal new laws which have been passed without debate or discussion in the world’s largest 'democracy'. The underlying driving force behind these laws is the consolidation of central power in New Delhi, in utter violation of the federal structure purported in the Constitution of India, 1950. Imperial Hindutva forces, be it under the BJP or Congress, seek to impose homogenising policies of ‘one language, one religion, one country (Hindi, Hindu, Hindustan), now also aspire to expand economically, with the introduction of a single agrarian market at the behest of corporate interests. No regard is being shown to how detrimental these laws would be to the farmers of Panjab and instead the farmers are branded as ‘ignorant’ or ‘uneducated life’ by the mainstream media ‘for failing to understand the laws’.

The recent events taking place in India further expose the imperial ambitions of the Indian Government which has consistently sought to subdue the state of Panjab. ‘The nature of economic exploitation of the Panjab has always been popularly understood to be on the colonial pattern. The myth of a written constitution has been easy to explode when it has been official suspected from operating in the Panjab for decades altogether. Those working on human rights abuses in the Panjab are in a position to expose the total hallow was of the claims of the present set up to pass off as a functioning democracy’ (‘Chakravyuh’ - Gurtej Singh).

Why pass these laws in a rush during a pandemic when they have not been touched for decades? Why did they attempt to disrupt people’s right to peaceful protest? Did they assume people would sit quiet and not take notice? The recent events taking place in India raise a lot of questions and further reinforce the claims that the Indian Government has always had nefarious intentions towards the state of Panjab and its people. We cannot rely on mainstream media for information and thus we must continue to raise awareness and dismantle government propaganda. 

This is my humble attempt to raise awareness for the struggles that the Kisaans are currently facing. Let’s maintain the pressure and continue to expose the Indian nation building project for what it truly is - a fascist state.
