About the CD:
I was always aware of Bukem, another DJ who managed to make underground rumblings to the listeners of the British dance scene without  us seemingly knowing who they even were... we just knew about them anyway.  immediately fell in love with this CD once Makoto's 'Inside Your Love' rolled in with MC Conrad's silky smooth mc'ing riding over the top. I'd always loved drum and bass from a distance, but from hearing that track... I was forever a massive fan. I bought into the Good Looking label, bought alot of old releases, all the mix cd's and then fell in love with Bukem's downtempo sister label 'Cookin Records'. This influence was one of the main sounds of my early vinyl days and has gone on to educate and delight for another decade and more. Play it loud, ride the groove, feel the bass. BUKEM!

Can you remember playing this set at all?
This was one of those nights when everything fell into place. Metalheadz Sessions at Blue Note were always above average but these kind of nights- where every element gelled perfectly. in terms of vibes and living life, these were the ones that people waited for. 

What were your most memorable moments from The Blue Note?
Spotting a famous face you didn't expect to see there was a great thing. It made me feel proud of the elements that made the burgeoning Drum & Bass sound work so well. It was about more than the experimental beats the DJs played. It was also about the phatness of the Eskimo Noise sound system, the freestyle energy the clubbers brought to the dance floor and the MCs who felt free to host in a nontraditional way. The unity of those elements that had not been witnessed before.

Sadly no MC Conrad on this set but we have the next best MC, DRS. Recorded live at Cream (Manchester) on 25-08-96 & aired on BBC Radio 1 (Essential Mix). 20+ years old and every track still sounds fresh as the day they were made, maximum respect to all the Goodlooking family - the original and still one of the best. Its 2 years ago today we lost our man Duncan Busto aka Spirit. Feels like there's a big black empty hole where he used to be... (And there's a mahussive hole in my DJ sets too!!!) we all miss him! So back in Feb this year we had a cracking night for him @ Village Underground on Sunday 9th Feb 2020 featuring a quality line-up. Massive thanks to each & every DJ & MC who performed on the night, even our crew that couldn’t make it to the show due to the adverse weather & severe storms cancelling flights, trains & causing havoc on the roads…!

I was a working DJ/producer 1996-2001 (UK). Lover of electronic music since 1990. I use this site to share some of my mix tapes and the best mixes from other DJs that I've accumulated over the years. This is purely for entertainment, sharing and promoting good music.

I did produce some tracks back in 1998-2000 but only released a couple of EPs with DJ Relay under the names Low Profile & Two-Step2. We are getting back into production again as of 2020 and will be re-releasing some of our old and new tracks going forward, find our tracks on Juno, Beatport, Amazon, etc.
