dj-jono...beats, rhymes & basslines...

i was born in singapore and studied in england at a time when the lines between music genres had broken down and given birth to new waves of dance music infused with latin, jazz, hip hop, breaks and all the rest of it. 

when i returned home, one thing was clear, i was compelled to project this new direction. i started to play at bars & clubs in singapore; anywhere that would give me a listen, trying what i had heard back in england, on the style-hungry crowd. 

i adapt by influences of over 20 years, from chill-out, to deep house, progressive house and trance and apply them to my mixes, putting them out on soundcloud and beatport, with 3 of them earning the title of Beatport Top 100 Mixes. i still do live performances whenever i can but am focused on putting my mixes on the 2 sites.

my influences vary from maya jane coles and josh wink, to fedde le grand and sander van doorn. i've learned how to read crowds and build it to a feverish pitch. there's a common thread in all my mixes, that underlying melody where you can see yourself on that dance floor moving in your own way, expressing yourself in a way only you understand.

i am currently working on my own material and plan to release that in 2015. watch for it.
