'Lemon', the second instalment from Egyptian-Australian DJ/Producer Moktar is out today, complete with accompanying visualiser from Sam Whiteside. This release comes off the back of a his huge inaugural single ‘Silk’, which won him fans across radio tastemakers Mary Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft, and Jamz Supernova, made its way to the number #1 most played song across Australian community radio all while telling the story of and celebrating his Arabic roots. Add to that being championed by heavyweights Jamie XX, Bonobo, Dixon, DJ Boring and many more.

"I’m a huge fan of percussion so wanted to make a track as percussive as possible," Moktar says of 'Lemon'. "Marching band vibes on top of traditional Arabic drumming, polished out with a fat bassline for the clubs. I wanted each track on the EP to have its own identity. The debut single ’Silk’ told the story of me becoming proud of my heritage, and though ‘Lemon’ continues in this vein, the focus while making it was purely for the dance!"

Based somewhere down the industrial harbour of Rotterdam, the fresh started 'Self Reflektion' techno imprint has found its birth and presents its first release. The person responsible for starting the label is stranger, also going by the not-so-mysterious name of Mitchel Polderman in daily life. His debut release 'Warehouse Memoires' reflects his passion and interest for the 90's warehouse rave sound in various ways, all produced while living in a Warehouse down the docks of Rotterdam. 

Featured on the release are the original mix, a recording which can be marked as a 2014 stomping warehouse techno track. The 'UK Rave mix' probably speaks for itself, breakbeat influenced techno, 90's UK warehouse material. The US Revival mix takes you from Chicago to New York in 4 minutes, and closing off the release is the Bergweg mix - an additional DJ Tool for the oldschool hoover freaks.

Produces music and D.J. under the alias of 'D.J. Junk'.

DJ and Producer based in the UK. Dj-ing since 1988 and producing since 1992. Started producing rave / jungle 12"'s in 1992 and released a series of white labels called 'Junk 001', 002, 003 and so on up to volume 12. Also distributed a series of rave mix tapes starting in 1991 known as 'Junk Hardcore'.

In 1994 produced a series of house / hard house 12"s under the artist name of 'Blister Sisters' and ran the house label called 'Completely Suitable' , this ran from 1994 to 1997 and had 14 releases, some of these were white labels.

In the early 90's produced a series of tapes called 'Breakbeat Mix' , these were mixes of hip hop breakbeats and other samples , produced on a sampler rather than turntables they were like very long tracks rather than dj mixes.

In 1996 the best parts of the 'Breakbeat Mixes' were compiled on a vinyl album called ‘Breaker Breaks Volume One’. This album also had sections of film samples and hip hop noises for scratch DJ’s.

The label this was released on was known as ‘Second To None’ which was the B-Boy crew of which DJ Junk was a member and so used that name for the new label. The ‘Breaker Breaks’ albums were followed with other volumes to reach volume 6.

The ‘Second To None’ label which was ran by DJ Junk also had other releases – ‘B-Boy Anthems Vol 1-6’ , ‘Weapons Of Mass Deckstruction Vol 1-4’, ‘Prone Breaks’, ‘Ultimate B-Boy Funk’ , ‘Trouble With Funk’ plus several other LP’s and 12”’s.

DJ Junk has had tracks on other labels too, ‘Ministry Of Sound’ , ‘MZEE’, ‘Bomb’ , ‘Pepper’, ‘Mo Wax’, ‘Ozone’, 'Telstar', 'Spandangle Selection' , 'NMRK' . 'MPS', 'Vinyl Fanatiks', 'Funkin' Pussy', 'Meditator Music', ‘Rave Radio’
Since 1992 has released 71 vinyl releases under various names / genres and labels.
