A regular fixture in Traxsource's top 10 deep house artists shows his music is as relevant now as when his critically acclaimed debut album Advance was launched on DJ Mag's Best of British award winning label Freerange Records.

Born in the freshly independant Kalakuta Republic around the same time his brother Hip-Hop was given birth in New-York, Kalakuta Kid learned how to walk in rhythm and harmony  through the infernal go-slows of Lagos. 

During his childhood, living the High-Life in the Motherland, he used to receive regular and inspiring news from his american brother who was established at Uncle Sam's mansion. Nevertheless, one gloomy day, some rumors brought by a western wind tended to suggest that Hip Hop was dead and buried. Hesitating for a while to leave on his own his young and orphan cousin Ethio Jazz, he finally barked in a slave ship for an epic journey through the Atlantic. 

After few weeks of deportation, he finally reached a weird island that he believed was the american continent. Therefore, the Kid was indeed very pessimistic about his chances to track down his supposedly dead brother. 
And when precisely when he had almost lost himself in the arms of this mysterious indigeneous named Mary-Jane that a prophecy came up out of a rastafarian ceremony. The preacher of the community, known as daddy Reggae, had this reminiscent vision of himself, preaching to the young Hip-Hop in the streets of the Bronx. 
He could also be absolutely affirmative that Hip-Hop was alive. 

Before realizing what was actually happening, the Kid was pushed by Mr Garvey himself into a Black Star Line ship on the shore of a place refered as New-Orleans. 

There he met the noble Sir Swing and his brave fellows named Rag and Blue Grass. One night, in a sketchie bootleg, Sir Swing confessed that Hip Hop was a student of his in Harlem. Right away, the Kid started his terrestrial quest . 
Cutting through the cotton fields, sleeping in the Bayou and feeding himself with those Strange Fruits, he could find almost anywhere in those lands, he even swam in the Mississipi river on the banks of which he happened to meet the old sad Mr Blues  who tell him an obscure story about 40 acres and a mule...
Out of breath, The Kid left the august grand pa behind him and made it to Detroit where a glamorous lady called Soul was said to be able to help him out making his way to Hip Hop. 

She actually had an "affair" with Hip Hop few decades ago and said to the Kid she would drive him to Brooklyn where she used to share a flat with him. And so they headed to the Big Apple in a few days (after a few stops in various sordid motels... Soul finally left the Kid few blocks away from the famous flat. 

The Kid freneticly rang the bell. A tall nervous dude opened the door. He introduced himself as Brother Funk, pretending behind opaque sunglasses that he used to be Hip Hop's landlord but kicked him out for not paying his rent on time. He added he presumed Hip Hop had started a new life in California and slamed the door. 

After that, no need to say that The Kid was very anxious at the idea of Hip Hop hanging around with those psychotic cousins of Compton. 
No need to say more, this might have confirmed Hip-Hop was dead. 

Rocking his Adidas, he jumped in vain to LA and from there to San Francisco. Ultimately, his investigation took him to Washington Square where he found Hip Hop on a bench, sharing a bottle of Chardonnay and talking metaphysical shit with a Beat. 
After few hesitations they recognized each other and huged for a while in a sound of silence. 

"Hip Hop is a hipster now" might have thought the Kid but he was alive, and that was all that mattered to him.

"At the age of 18 Lima left Brazil, traveled around the world as a model to finally settle down in China in 2007, where her musical journey started. 
From the constant traveling she was doing, Lima met many good artists and started running differents projects such as Get Connected Brazil with the Embassy of Brazil in Pequim, monthly parties at Lantern Club and Aurora. As well as resident Dj for 3 years at Atmosphere Bar on the 80th floor of Shangri-Lá Hotel in Beijing. In love with house music - that love grew into a passion for progressive - deep sounds.
In 2010 Lima, made it official on the scene as a DJ. Working her way up to the best clubs in Beijing and Shanghai, always on the hunt for new sounds and inspirations. After a number of years playing at the hottest clubs and in many 5-star hotels in China – such as the Shangri-la, where she held a residency for 3 years –, Lima created the Get Connected concept. Get Connected started out as a monthly event, booking DJs from other cities/countries, focusing mostly on Brazilian DJs, to play at one of her favorite spots - Club Lantern, in Beijing. Over time, the concept developed into a music studio which is called Get Connected Studios, created by Lima and her husband Hristo H. The studio focuses on producing both electronic music and metal. The duo formed by the couple today is called Presence Of Mind and their first release was on May 2020 with Believe Music called “Mahai”.

Lima’s track records includes: Brasília for 5uinto Carnaval, Korea for Woolim Music Festival, Thailand at Catch Beach Club, Philippines at Time Club, Ethiopia for Korenti Music Festival and all over China such as INTRO Music Festival, YinYang Music Festival at The Great Wall, dART - collaborated with brands such as Pioneer, McLaren, AMG, Omega, D&G, LV - events such as China Open, and DJs such as NAKADIA, LA FLEUR, SCALAMERYIA, MANDY and BLANCAh.
In 2017, Get Connected expanded even more, adding Get Connected Brazil to showcase the vibrancy of Brazilian electronic sounds in China, bringing Brazilian DJs to tour in Asia. Get Connected Brazil has brought L_cio, BLANCAh, Binaryh, Alex Justino and Komka to tour in China for a consecutive 2 years, making 2 editions every year.
In 2020, now living in Sofia, Bulgaria, Lima is discovering new grounds, looking forward to share her passion for music in Europe.

Hailing from the New York house scene, DJ/Producer Kai has gained a strong reputation his house/techno styled DJ sets and floor filling dance productions.  As testament to his skills, Grammy winning duo Deep Dish have said, "Kai's track 'Suffocation' is simply amazing. Its one of the best tribal tracks out there" With his tracks getting support from Deep Dish, Sasha & Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Desyn Masiello and Danny Howells (just to name a few), Kai’s production ability is synonymous with quality.  The DJ with one of the finest ears in the industry, Desyn Masiello has been quoted as saying Kai’s productions are “brilliant!!”  Already a name growing in demand, Kai has played at some of the world’s best venues including Crobar (NYC), Pacha and the legendary Womb in Tokyo.  

Sasha invited Kai to play at a very special VIP boat party in NYC for a charity benefit.  This is not the first time the A-list jocks have sought out the DJ ability of Kai.  At Crobar NYC, Kai also opened up for Sander Kleinenberg which resulted in rave reviews of his set on all of the internet forums.  Kai has also opened for Roger Sanchez for his “RELEASE YOURSELF” event further cementing Kai’s status as a DJ on the rise.

In John Digweed’s words “Kai has been making some great tracks over the years…  [Kai’s] really starting to find his feet and he’s an excellent DJ as well.”  Kai has proven Digweed right on the last three Yoshitoshi tours of Asia covering over 14 different cities including Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Jakarta, and Singapore.  

Kai has recently joined forces with fellow Asian producer and composer, Kyle to form Kai & Kyle. Kai & Kyle have worked together on many other projects together at various stages of their careers and are very excited at this new chapter of their lives. As a duo they have recently signed to world renowned Toolroom Records for their first single ‘Love No Limit’ featuring an epic remix package graced with remixes by the legendary Kerri Chandler.

Kai is also proud to be a contributor to the very last release on Hooj Choons with his remix of Aphasia - Acapulco will being played by Sasha for his encores to this day.

Working with his former studio partner as Chris & Kai, the two found quick success with an original debut release of “Suffocation/Catch Me” on Yoshitoshi Recordings.  Following the Yoshitoshi release with several critically acclaimed remixes on Hooj Choons, and Yo!, Chris & Kai established themselves as cutting edge producers.  Chris & Kai's productions have been making waves on BBC Radio One with Pete Tong playing their forthcoming release on Alternative Route, "Gone to Heaven," several times on his Essential Selection.  The mighty Sasha & Digweed also feature the same track as the closing song to their Essential Mix live from Renaissance, UK.  “Catch Me” was also included on the Ultra Dance 05 CD compilation that reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Charts in the US.
Kai’s strong DJ sensibilities shine through on his original productions, all having caught the attention and DJ support of many A-list DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed, Luke Fair, Desyn Masiello, Deep Dish, D:Fuse, Danny Howells, Jimmy Van M, and Sander Kleinenberg just to name a few.
