Following the launch of 'RBB: Rhymes, Beats & Brass', we wanted to work with lots of the amazing artists we've come across at shows, festivals and through recommendations from fans. The 'RBB: Rhymes, Beats & Brass (Remixed)' album is the result.

From the funky flute opening of Hugo Kant's twist on 'The Shakedown', to the dubby, crunchy bass of Danny Drive-Thru's version of 'Zealots', some of the world's best artists and producers have been let loose on the horns, brass, scratches and vocals from Renegade Brass Band - and it's a brilliant set of tracks that they've created!

02 - Dark Clouds Rain Soul

Am 29.10.2011 fand im ausverkauften Club Bahnhof Ehrenfeld in Köln der zweite BEAT FIGHT statt. Veranstaltet vom Splash Mag, Mixery Raw Deluxe und Mad Flava trafen 12 Hip-Hop Produzenten aus Deutschland und Österreich aufeinander. 

Mit so unterschiedlichen Beatmachern wie Dexter, Shuko, Fid Mella, Morlockko Plus, Feux oder Tikay One war das Feld breit aufgestellt. Im K.O. Verfahren  ging es durch vier Runden. Die Jury, bestehend aus Falk Schacht (Mixery Raw Deluxe), DJ Mad (Beginner), Tropf (Dynamite Deluxe, Beginner) und Roe Beardie (Headrush), kürte zusammen mit dem Publikum die Sieger. Dexter holte den Titel zum zweiten Mal. Fid Mella und Shuko belegten Platz 2 und 3.

Dabei wurden so viele Bretter von Festplatte und Serato abgefeuert, dass wir uns entschlossen haben, den Beat Fight mit einer LP zu dokumentieren. Die Fotos dazu stammen von Robert Winter. Gemastert hat Roe Beardie.

The Beat Fight # 2 took place in late October at the CBE in Cologne, Germany. Set up by Mixery Raw Deluxe, Splash Festival and Mad Flava, 12 of the best beatmakers from Germany and Austria showed their art. Including cats like Dexter , Fid Mella, Shuko, Feux, Morlockko Plus and Mainloop. We have selected our 20 favourite beats. Photos by Robert Winter (Hi-Hat Club). On February 13, Dorsh Deans stumbled across an NPR Fresh Air interview with Oscar nominated actress Viola Davis.  She discussed the traditional roles of dark-skinned women in Hollywood films and made an incredible point about how 'media inspires the mulatto from within'. Dorsh completely agreed with her position and wrote a song which features poetry from the legendary Gil Scott-Heron and production from RJF. The track is entitled "The Mulatto (Afrodite)" and it depicts the life of a girl who knows she is beautiful but falls victim to societies simulated standard of light-skinned beauty. Dorsh is reaching out because he feels that the message covers an important issue that no one is addressing in the hip hop/music community.

In the past year, Dorsh has been featured on several top music blogs and radio shows domestically and Internationally. On February 24, 2012 his debut single “Je t’aime”, from the Neopolitan LP, premiered at #10 on Hypem’s popular music charts. Amidst performing with a wide range of artists from LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad to Talib Kweli, Dorsh has done remix work for FADERLABEL in NYC, engineered for Ska Rebirth in Kingston, and mastered for Asahi Brewery in Tokyo. Successfully earning his stripes in the as an engineer/producer, Dorsh is now ready to transition from behind the board to behind the mic with his debut LP Neopolitan for Rad Summer!
