Pierre-Claver Akendengué (born April 25, 1943) is a musician and composer from Gabon, Central Africa. His 1982 'Epuguzu' was the African song of the 1980s.

In 1997, he received his country's "Prix d'excellence" at the Africa Music awards in Libreville, honoring his body of work. He also serves as a cultural advisor for the government of Gabon.

Born on the island of Awuta, which is located just off the coast from Port-Gentil, Akendengué went to school in Port-Gentil, then studied psychology at the University of Caen in France during the 1960s. While in France, he met singer Mireille, who encouraged his musical interests.

In 1974, Akendengué recorded his first album, Nandipo, which consisted of songs of his own composition, sung in French and Nkomi, accompanied by guitar, women choir, bass and the percussion of Nana Vasconcelos. He later set to music poems by P. E. Mondjegou, such as "Le Chant du Coupeur d'Okoumé" ("The Song of the Okoumé Cutter"). Returning to Gabon, he studied solfeggio and plainchant at a Catholic college, and presented spectacles showcasing traditional Gabonese forms in a concert setting.

In 1986, he received a doctorate from the University of Paris for his study of religion and education among the Nkomi.

Cándido Camero Guerra
Cuban-born percussionist (mainly conga and bongo) who backed many Afro-Cuban and straight-ahead jazz acts starting in the 1950s. Born April 22, 1921 in Regla (Havana), Cuba. Died November, 7, 2020 in New York, USA. He started his career as a percussionist for various groups in Havana, performing at the nightclubs and radio stations. He moved to New York in 1946 and started recording with Machito and Dizzy Gillespie. During 1953-1954 he was in the Billy Taylor quartet and in 1954 he performed and recorded with Stan Kenton. He also enjoyed some hits during the disco era, most notably with his cover of Babatunde Olatunji's classic "Jingo", which he recorded for Salsoul Records.

German Synth-pop band from Bietigheim-Bissingen.

The four friends Heiko Maile, Oliver Kreyssig, Marcus Meyn and Martin Kähling (who left the band in 1984) founded the band "Lizenenced Technology" in 1983.

Drawing on inspiration from the song of the same name by the Japanese group "Yellow Magic Orchestra," the band changed their name to "Camouflage."

The first local live appearance took place in 1984. One year later they recorded two demo cassettes in their studio and sent these cassettes to several record companies.

In 1986 one of these tapes was submitted for a talent search conducted by the Hessischen Rundfunk (Hessen Radio). Camouflage was awarded the first place and the small Frankfurt record label "Westside" became aware of the band. The song "The Great Commandment," was reworked, newly recorded and presented to the larger record companies. Suddenly several firms expressed interest and after careful consideration the band signed with Metronome.

Founded in Chicago by brothers Rick & Rory (Star) Sizemore in 1978. The band was named "Seville" until 1980 when they were introduced to Carl Davis (CEO) of Carl Davis Productions and Chi-Sound records. He asked them to change their name because someone else was recording under the name Seville already.

Their first hit recording was "Share my love", written by Ric and Rory (Star) Sizemore and recorded in Universal Studios in Chicago 1982. Magnum Force opened for groups like: The Dazz Band, Heatwave, Lakeside, Enchantment, Slave, Midnight Star, The Emotions, The Staple Singers, and may others.

"Pop! Goes My Heart" is a song from the movie Music and Lyrics, performed by Hugh Grant, as the singer from fictional eighties band "PoP!" While not credited on the track itself (in the movie's end credits), the second lead vocal performance is provided by the song's co-writer Andrew Wyatt. In the film, the song is categorized as a hit from 1984. It is a parody of the typical songs of the 1980s, including a music video featuring imagery common to the era. The music video plays during the introduction of the film (as well as the beginning of the end credits in the style of Pop-Up Video), and features Grant and Scott Porter.

During a Reddit AMA in 2016, Hugh Grant says that he likes to perform all the song's dance moves with his children every day.
