Two legends, Airwave and Phi Phi, join forces once again on Today Is Made Of Yesterdays. Last time out, they gave us Finesse, which was a while ago, but they have been very busy in the meantime. For Airwave, the last few months have been very productive. He’s utilised his time in the studio to come up with a series of creative ideas as well other projects and, as ever we are super excited to be hearing his latest efforts with this new track. Phi Phi has continued to provide his journey-led sets for his followers, playing out on several online radio stations worldwide. He is also preparing for post lockdown events which are coming in thick and fast. In the studio he continues his wonderful partnership with Manu Riga. Their last effort was on the remix for Rick Pier O'Neil’s Itzamna and there is so much more to come from those guys. The Original Mix kicks off with a dark, cinematic sequence, creating a rising tension. Solid kick drums and shuffling percussions come through, taking the groove into a rhythmic flow as the atmosphere builds and builds. A burly bassline controls the low end as melodic flurries weave through the groove. The track rises, methodically luring us into its melancholic warmth and giving us a special journey that is not to be missed. Crocy returns on remix duties, delivering yet another fine slice of progressive goodness. Crocy is one of the finest DJs and producers of his generation, redefining the Slovenian electronic sound and pushing it further through the warm melodic groovy house and progressive realms. He is an artist of substance and a familiar name with over a decade of experience. His output for Bonzai is consistent and always creates a buzz in the office. Here, Crocy takes the original and beefs up the bass with a more pronounced drive which is backed up with a tight, rhythmic drum section. Soft arpeggios fade up, creating a mesmerizing sequence while on the break we’re treated to some smooth melodies before heading back to full-on mode for the duration. Turkish DJ, producer Nacres is up next on the remix which follows his last remix on metrONomes’ Thirio. Considered with veteran status, Nacres got his first DJ gig at Taxim Night Park in 1994. He was already connected to the electronic music scene for 3 years prior to this, having worked on sound and lighting at various venues. He hung up his cans in 1997 but, in 2019 he decided to make a return to music, devoting his skills to producing quality progressive house and tech house. The remix here takes the groove to a deeper level with a minimalistic approach. Heavy focus shifts to the drums and the groovy bassline while intense synths rise and fall throughout. The break is a trippy affair which fits beautifully with the slow burning appeal of this top-notch cut.

Dj Phi Phi’s career started in 1985.
One of most reputed belgium night club requested Phi Phi as resident DJ at “At The Villa” in 1987.
Following the several ascension as resident Dj at all biggest & famous nightlife in clubs such as Boccaccio Life (Destelbergen-Be) and Cirao (WaregemBe) in 1993. He was Phi Phi resident dj at Cafe d’Anvers in 1994, Tour & Taxi (1996), Fuse, Oxygene, Pulp (2001) & Barocco.
Known all over Belgium for his “Phi Phi Legendary Monday’s” at Extreme (Affligem, Brussels) between 1994 and 2002.
He has been played at worldwide Clubs & Festivals as Tomorrowland, Legacy Festival, WMC, Nikki Beach (Miami), Privilege (Ibiza), Noxx (Anvers), Fuse (Brussel), Pulse Factory with headliners such as Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, Sasha, Oliver Lieb (LSG), Laurent Garnier & Danny Howells..

PRODUCER CAREER
Debut music producing started in completely french collaboration with Philippe Van Mullem in 1989 with, inter alia, UNA (Emotion, Can you hear me..), HONEY C (Stop the disease, Desire..), INNERTALES (Odysee, Voices Of Sirens..), QUADRAN (Eternaly, Free your mind..) and following the Quadran Debut Album “VOYAGE” which is kick-started movements of melodic & uplifting trance.

In 1995, Phi-Phi and French Dj-Producer Gregory Dewindt debut massive revelation “PHI PHI & GREG D – Jesus Trip” (X-Stream / DIKI Records) which has definitely burned the nightlife and got lot of influences, the most famous tune in belgian DJ scene and still a legendary track today, then this greatest seller announced the following amazing Duo classic & popular release “L’Odysee Of Love” & “Contact” on Bonzaï Trance Progressive.

Label brand Mackenzie Recordings founded by Stef Garner & Patrick Fasseau trusts to Phi Phi whose both tracks “Magma” & “Jungles Trip” cames out in 2003.
Then Stef Garner and Phi Phi, under the nick name “DB Movement”, released the house track “Funk Shaker” (WORK Records) in 2005 and both tracks “Rotation” & Evidence” (LCD Recordings) in 2013.

Phi Phi & Airwaves started kind of very british progressive sounds inspired of Bedrock style. Influenced so far by Sasha & John Digweed, their tracks such as “Back on track”, “Breeze on the nile”, “The Horn”, “Vanilla” & “Finesse” signed on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE get on top in best seller Beatport and Itunes in 2013.

2014 saw the new collaboration with Label founder IFONIKA RECORDINGS and friend, Roddy Reynaert. Their First E.P “Platinum” & “Neurotrope” has been released on special “Underground Series” on Roddy ‘s Label IFONIKA.

From 2015 to 2017, “Atlan”, “Believe”, “Mayhem” “Circulation” “Haarp” “Aokighara” “Tempora” “Cirao” + Remix were released with Roddy on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE rec.
“Tour & Taxi” “Corossol” and a remix of G-Brown “This is who we are” on SUFFUSED Rec

For now he has got several new projects in the pipeline and has his monthly podcast program ‘Mouvement Perpetuel’ that has become a regular club concept in 2019!
In 2020 Phi-Phi celebrates his 35 years as being a dj and producer with a club, event and festival tour!

UK based Co-founder of PROGRESS:ON. DJ and Event Promoter. In 2024 Nasser has relocated from living in Cyprus to his hometown in Newcastle. During lockdown his live stream series “Melodicast” grew into an exciting gathering of music lovers on Youtube, and when events opened up this became a sunkissed 3 year DJ career across the beach bar, nightclub and festival events based along the Mediterranean coastline, which has further curated his style today.

Nasser’s personal taste is inspired by the connections he made with strangers on the dancefloor when a special moment is felt together –  which he believes is only achieved with phones away so we are present with one another.

He is one of the first promoter DJs in the U.K. to bring regular daytime electronic music events to clubs and outdoor spaces in his hometown. Celebrating it’s 5th birthday this year, PROGRESS:ON, has uncovered a niche of people of all age ranges who want to party in the day and remain ready to take on tomorrow. Nasser’s event was born from moving into a house where he could throw house parties with loud sound systems, and they attracted so many people it eventually had to go public.

Today Nasser serves DJ Mag's favourite clubs including Guaba (Cyprus), Digital, theCut and World Head Quarters (Newcastle), and a recent highlight BEONIX Festival & Sunset Tribes Festival in Larnaca.

Nasser is growing an international electronic music following. His cross-genre journeys through rhythmic, bright and vibrant sounds are influenced by the basslines of Serge Devant, the grooves of Jimpster & Marlon George to the energy of Butch, Josh Butler & Nick Curly. 

Nasser regularly DJs at festivals and venues in the UK and across the Republic of Cyprus for GUABA, KESH, AGORA ROOFTOP, NOA BEACH and BEONIX FESTIVAL and throwing intimate terrace parties in Newcastle UK under his event brand PROGRESS:ON. 

When not DJing in-person you can catch him live streaming in front DJs and music lovers worldwide on youtube, growing awareness for artists, labels and enabling everyone to discover brand new releases from rising stars in the scene.
