The debut volume, HYPERFIXATIONS vol. 1, dives into the visceral experience of musical hyperfocus. It draws inspiration from the immersive state one enters when a track hits just right on a dancefloor—when sound becomes sensation, when rhythm overtakes thought. This phenomenon parallels the trance-like focus described by Formula 1 drivers: total presence, no longer processing visually, only feeling instinctively.


Curated by Rick Offen, vol. 1 is crafted to be more than a compilation, it’s a complete sonic journey. From the first beat to the last echo, the sequence is intentional: a narrative arc that guides the listener through tension, release, introspection, and euphoria.

Rusted Rhythm

Progressive house gurus Roddy Reynaert and Phi Phi return to Bonzai with the sublime two track EP entitled Tempora. This formidable duo have been churning out some serious beats over the last number of years and their last Bonzai Progressive outing - Aokighara - proved popular among many due to its squelching acid appeal and deep progressive grooves. A wealth of experience and creativity was the catalyst for these two striking up a solid partnership which has resulted in several quality cuts. Phi Phi is certainly doing the rounds and spreading his vast knowledge of all things electronic music. He's involved with other collaborations as well as solo works and he remains a much sought after DJ, particularly for retro events. Roddy also thrives as a soloist, his tracks are supported around the world and his unique blend between progressive and house is very much revered. It's always an exciting time when these guys get together and we're sure there'll be much more to come, so stay tuned.

First up we have the gnarly progressive vibes of Tempora which intros with a lush bassy tone consisting of chunky kick drums and a rumbling bassline alongside a superb teasing acid line on the offset. Shuffling hit hats and tight percussions provide a steady rhythmic flow to the track as those basses begin to intensify. The track winds up slowly into a frenzied and electrified groove that will surely have the floors rocking. On the break the synths raise the intensity levels even more before those solid beats return for the duration. Another top notch slice from this unstoppable duo.

Cirao intros with a very nice moving bass that sits under a muted kick drum while various percussions form up to get the rhythm moving. Mesmeric synths rise up and join a series of cool sounds and FX that give the track a lot of depth and texture. The kicks are beefed up to pumping status and the progressive vibes start to ooze out the track. Cascading arpeggios deliver a subtle melodic vein and on the break we're treated to a very nice pad sequence before the track kicks back in to full on mode. Superb stuff that is not to be missed.

Up next on Bonzai Progressive we have a meeting of minds from two musical maestros, namely, Phi Phi and Manu Riga. This Belgian duo are getting together properly for the first time and we're blown away by the end product of this much anticipated clash of titans. 

An introduction is not really needed here, we all know the calibre of these guys and we're more than familiar with their beautifully crafted works. Manu Riga aka Adriaan Baussens ranks high among many as a top artist, dedicated to delivering maximum experience to the listener. When he produces music you just know he puts his soul into the groove and, the best part is, he can apply this to several genres as he's proven in the last few years having delved into the likes of melodic techno, tech, downtempo, chillout and of course progressive house. His last outing, Kurudi, was well received as ever and we hope to see more in the future. Phi Phi aka veteran DJ and producer Philippe Toutlemonde remains at the top of his game after more than 30 years in the business. He has been at the forefront of the dance music scene in Europe during that time and he was a pioneer in the early progressive trance sound. He's continued to deliver the goods over the last several years and he regularly joins forces with other top producers where he injects his wealth of experience into the project. Always a pleasure having him here at Bonzai Progressive.

Moon Dust is a perfectly balance, ever-evolving progressive mover filled with chunky beats and chunkier basses. The track carries a rich hybrid vibe containing classic elements wrapped up in a contemporary structure. From tight beats and crispy hats to hypnotic synth hits, we're treated to a masterclass here, no doubt. The low-end frequencies stand out brilliantly here, deep, moody and gritty. The break is sublime with NASA style recordings providing the narrative while celestial sounds create atmosphere. Top notch as always.

Those Who Left Us takes a tougher stance thanks to pounding kick drums and a more raucous percussion section. Quality FX sweep over the sound and as the layers build the atmosphere intensifies. This one is a solid mover that offers no apology, but on the break, we find a stark contrast. Amidst the murky, dark progressive grooves emerges a moment of reflection, of serenity, a chance to respite before the vivacious, chunky groove returns for the duration. A beautiful piece that will be a welcome addition in any late-night setting.

Phi Phi & Manu Riga "Moon Dust" Edit

Phi Phi and Manu Riga join forces once again to bring us two distinctly unique tracks on Voyage a Goa. This one is the duo's second stint in the studio together and once again the chemistry is magical as you will witness. Philippe and Adriaan are both stalwarts for us having provided a plethora of original and remix works, with consistent quality, over many years. Their tracks are championed around the world and both can boast a dedicated following. It's a pleasure once again to release another fine slice from these masters of their trade.

Voyage a Goa intros with a nice thumping kick drum and sharp, scattered hats and percussions, creating a smooth rhythmic vibe. A deep, pulsing bass adds weight as the drums become feistier. Stabbing notes give off a techno vibe with a natural flow, layering up against warm bass tones and pure progressive drive. The break reveals a much deeper groove thanks to hypnotic flutes and a striking spoken vocal and strong bass drone which leads us back into the main groove. A definite floor friendly track to move the crowd, not to be missed.

Larmes Dans La Pluie is a sublime track from these guys, no doubt referencing the famous monologue from Bladerunner. The darker groove certainly captures the essence of the scene and the futuristic society in which it was set, a fitting nod to a classic flick. The track opens with a solid kick and a rolling bass arp that locks us in as sci fi FX add texture to the sound. On the break we're thrust deeper into the groove as striking notes cut through pulsing bass laden pads before heading back into the main track for the duration. A beautifully polished construction with an epic feel, filled with drama and suspense that generates a lot of energy, top-notch stuff.

Dj Phi Phi’s career started in 1985.
One of most reputed belgium night club requested Phi Phi as resident DJ at “At The Villa” in 1987.
Following the several ascension as resident Dj at all biggest & famous nightlife in clubs such as Boccaccio Life (Destelbergen-Be) and Cirao (WaregemBe) in 1993. He was Phi Phi resident dj at Cafe d’Anvers in 1994, Tour & Taxi (1996), Fuse, Oxygene, Pulp (2001) & Barocco.
Known all over Belgium for his “Phi Phi Legendary Monday’s” at Extreme (Affligem, Brussels) between 1994 and 2002.
He has been played at worldwide Clubs & Festivals as Tomorrowland, Legacy Festival, WMC, Nikki Beach (Miami), Privilege (Ibiza), Noxx (Anvers), Fuse (Brussel), Pulse Factory with headliners such as Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, Sasha, Oliver Lieb (LSG), Laurent Garnier & Danny Howells..

Debut music producing started in completely french collaboration with Philippe Van Mullem in 1989 with, inter alia, UNA (Emotion, Can you hear me..), HONEY C (Stop the disease, Desire..), INNERTALES (Odysee, Voices Of Sirens..), QUADRAN (Eternaly, Free your mind..) and following the Quadran Debut Album “VOYAGE” which is kick-started movements of melodic & uplifting trance.

In 1995, Phi-Phi and French Dj-Producer Gregory Dewindt debut massive revelation “PHI PHI & GREG D – Jesus Trip” (X-Stream / DIKI Records) which has definitely burned the nightlife and got lot of influences, the most famous tune in belgian DJ scene and still a legendary track today, then this greatest seller announced the following amazing Duo classic & popular release “L’Odysee Of Love” & “Contact” on Bonzaï Trance Progressive.

Label brand Mackenzie Recordings founded by Stef Garner & Patrick Fasseau trusts to Phi Phi whose both tracks “Magma” & “Jungles Trip” cames out in 2003.
Then Stef Garner and Phi Phi, under the nick name “DB Movement”, released the house track “Funk Shaker” (WORK Records) in 2005 and both tracks “Rotation” & Evidence” (LCD Recordings) in 2013.

Phi Phi & Airwaves started kind of very british progressive sounds inspired of Bedrock style. Influenced so far by Sasha & John Digweed, their tracks such as “Back on track”, “Breeze on the nile”, “The Horn”, “Vanilla” & “Finesse” signed on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE get on top in best seller Beatport and Itunes in 2013.

2014 saw the new collaboration with Label founder IFONIKA RECORDINGS and friend, Roddy Reynaert. Their First E.P “Platinum” & “Neurotrope” has been released on special “Underground Series” on Roddy ‘s Label IFONIKA.

From 2015 to 2017, “Atlan”, “Believe”, “Mayhem” “Circulation” “Haarp” “Aokighara” “Tempora” “Cirao” + Remix were released with Roddy on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE rec.
