ABOUT THE RELEASE

Chista Okolina made their proper come back with the "Avant-garde Fatiguée" album earlier this year. It is the first long-player in a proposed trilogy, which should offer a broader insight in the band's current musical affinities. However, before we unleash the second and third instalments of the new Chista Okolina LP triplet, here is something that has been repeatedly requested by our music supervisor friends. The instrumental versions of the songs from "Avant-garde Fatiguée", freed from the explosive rap deliveries, showcase the daring collages of hip-hop, alt-rock, trip-hop and electronica in all their glory. Expect to hear these gems on the big (and smaller) screens in the near future.

Part 2 of this epic mix more accurately demonstrates what Task & Bear were all about in 1997. The semi crazed eclectic rawness of the mixes showed unseen bravery at the time. Task & Bears don't give a fuck attitude got them in trouble but also enabled them to do things other DJs were too afraid to even pull off at home. This live mix is raw and inventive. Remember folks, this is pre digital days, vinyl only skills on display :) and all done in one take !

This is a short preview of our Idles remix thats going out on fear of fiction records on august 6th alongisde their new ep 'welcome'. This is the first time we have been in the studio together as task & bear since 1998 and were really happy with the results. Even though this is an electronic version; in places it still feels like a live band.

Idles - Meydei - Task and Bear Remix Preview

Solid Steel in association with Serato (31st August) 3 years ago Solid Steel DJs Cheeba, Moneyshot and Food had the idea of collaborating on a version of the Beastie Boys‘ ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album made entirely from the original sample sources, shortly after Moneyshot aired his mix of their ‘Check Your Head’ album in the same way. 

Finally the result is here, titled ‘Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix’ - each of them have taken a third of the album to work on and combined their efforts into a mix that will make you hear it in a new way. Aside from the original sample sources they’ve included commentary from the Beasties, vintage interviews, demo versions and much more.

The mix was over half way completed when they heard the tragic news of MCA‘s death in May so the impetus to finish it was instantly doubled and new meaning given to the project. It goes without saying that this is also a tribute to Adam Yauch and the legacy he left behind and we hope it will be embraced by Beastie fans around the globe.
