This is a mix I put together to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Massive Attack's third album 'Mezzanine', focusing mainly on tracks & breaks used on the Bristol group's first three albums.

This was broadcast on The Huey Show's Block Party on BBC 6 Music, Sat 22nd April 2023 (Record Store Day). This version contains the 27 minute mix that was aired, as well as an additional segment at the end that was chopped for time.

The Chemical Brothers (or Dust Brothers as they were at the time) live at The Albany, London.

Sunday 14th August 1994.

Recorded on DAT by Robin Turner.

The jump into Boops at 27.52 is because the DAT was removed in order for Tom and Ed to play music they'd made in the studio that week (instrumental of Life is Sweet often got played around this time). Any record jumps were caused by people banging into the decks, or pogoing! (I'm guilty as charged in Voodoo People). Last record cuts off due to the DAT running out. 

Big up all the Heavenly Sunday Social crew.

In 2009, I consulted for, and appeared in, Activision's DJ Hero video game.   As part of my involvement, I performed at quite a few industry events and eventually did a couple of club dates.  Some of these sets were more rehearsed than others, and the quality varied.  This one, recorded live on Halloween night at a KCRW benefit, was far and away my favorite of the bunch...both in terms of technical display and song selection.  I'll post some of the other recorded sets later, there's some nice moments along the way.- DJ Shadow

"Shortly after finishing my 2016 album 'The Mountain Will Fall,' I was given the prestigious task of preparing my second Essential Mix for BBC Radio1.  It had been nearly 15 years since my first go-round, so I felt obligated to go all the way in. This first part was all about the new, showcasing my favorite underground beats & stuff.  As with my first Essential Mix, the gears shift radically at the halfway mark, so it seemed to make sense in a streaming context to let this power-hour stand on its own."
