“Hi, this is Dirigible, one half of Baldhead, which, although dormant for the past couple of years, may well be reprised soon... other than that I've been playing some casual pub-style gigs, planning guest mixes, and working with other pals on another party project, the first of which will be held on a boat on the River Lee at the end of this month that'll hopefully be the start of something!
This mix pretty much sums up my typical, go-to DJing style, the kind of stuff I've been honing for the last few years with Baldhead. I haven't bought so many 12's since covid hit, I've instead concentrated more on buying albums, albeit infrequently; consequently, it was difficult to plan something with new music, simply because I didn't have enough of it, so a lot of the records in this mix I've had for quite some time, they just haven't had the chance to be aired yet.
Massive thanks to Pablo and the rest for being so patient with me and of course for inviting me to be a part of the series! Hope you enjoy my contribution.”

Both the longest and most comprehensive mix I have edited together yet, "5,000 Fathoms" compiles over 40 unique ambient artists into a 90 minute underwater journey. The sounds of a harbor can be heard as you set out on a small boat and soon plunge overboard. The concept continues from there but I'll leave that for you to discover. Throughout the journey, found underwater sounds are interwoven, including actual recordings of humpback whales (not mine, referenced below) and the constant manipulation of water sounds effects (scuba breathing). Each track was specifically chosen that both worked within an ambient anthology context, as well as a nautical theme ("Deep Blue Day", "By the Harbor") or a feeling of being isolated deep underwater (Basinski, Popnoname). Plug in your headphones and enjoy.

The EP opens with the string-laden textures of ‘Löpeld’, before drifting into the floating groove of ‘Rove’ (featuring Benjamin Gustafsson). Next ‘Vilsenhet’ serves up a heavier brooding vibe to the package before rounding off the EP on an ambient note with ‘Worriers’.
