Maharishi is a multidimensional electronic music project formed by composer Borislav Lazarov with more than two decades of experience in crafting visionary sound narratives. His style weaves together deep ambient, downtempo, psychill, and hypnotic trance elements, creating evolving inner landscapes rather than linear dance tracks. Rather than performing “DJ sets", Maharishi delivers immersive ceremonies - slow-building journeys of harmony, pulsation, and transcendence, ideal for sunrise and sunset sessions, chillout temples, and psychedelic art spaces.

Maharishi is also known for his psytrance projects ASOMA and Resonant Warrior, active in festival culture since the early 2000s. His catalog includes multiple albums and EPs, with released and unreleased material spanning deep psy, ambient techno, and cosmic psychill. Maharishi’s music has been featured in performances, radio mixes, and curated collections across Europe and worldwide.

Evgeni got introduced to electronic music around the end of the 90’s, but came back to this genre after a youth full of old school punk riffs and several hardcore bands. He turned the page in 2007 and started messing around with heavy amen drum and bass / jungle samples. Things balanced out in 2009 with the first studio mix “Autumn Leaves”, which represented the mellow shades of drum and bass. After many more mixes and several years later, Phirah’s sound became deeply fragmented with the liquid, minimalistic and experimental sub-genre shapes. Making the difference was the next step and soon the idea of “Future Sounds of Sofia” was born. Not long after, he was lucky enough to meet Robustus, Smartech & Presize and with some additional help - the concept of quality bass music for mature audiences eventually commenced.

PHIRAH започва музикалното си пътешествие в края на 90те. След няколко хардкор банди и още толкова китарни рифове, следва бурен преход обратно в сферата на електронната музика. Постепенно възприятията му за дръм и бас олекват и няколко години по-късно стилът му вече се преплита с елементи от минималистичен, течен и органичен дръм и бас, както и неговите подстилове. Бил е на една сцена заедно с имена като Friction, Ant TC1, Lenzman и др., а заедно с момчетата от Future Sounds of Sofia се грижи за разпространението на качествения bass из софийския нощен живот.

Balkan Scientists Sound System came to life in the beginning of 2010 as a final result of series of musical experiments named “Balkan Scientist vol.1,2,3,4,5“ (2008-2010). Mihail Dimov the original Balkan Scientist and his crew Global Vision Circle organized these events led by a creative curiosity asking over and over the same question - “what will happen if…?”. 
“What will happen if on stage meet the 65 years old gypsy violin virtuoso Venzi Takev and the 22 years Bulgaria’s beat box phenomena Skiller, what will happen if we bring together the 3 didgeridoo players in their twenties with a bag pipe master from Rodopi mountain, or if the punk rock legend Vassil Gurov joins forces with Janka Rupkina - the emblematic voice of Bulgarian folklore, or how the Brazilian berimbau will go along with Turkish zurna and Bulgarian traditional back pipe.. etc.?” 
The experiments involved more than 20 artists of various ages, ethnicities and musical backgrounds and always followed the same pattern – the musicians had on their disposal two rehearsals to get to know each other and create together a “repertoire” based on their common Balkan musical sensitivity and strong feeling for improvisation. After that they hit the stage confronting a growing in number and enthusiasm audience. BOOOM!!! It was a success! Definitely!! The Balkan Scientist Reunion Night brought all five experiments together in one night in front of almost a thousand people. The fifth experiment even made it to Hungary and Germany where Asphalt Tango label got quite interested but…the balkanization (ability to over-complicate things) and the enormous differences between the musicians (which were great for the stage but not so good for the road) made the band fall apart. 
At that point the original Balkan Scientist decided to bring together a new formation that will step on the achievements of the previous ones, but will be more organic, more professional and more dubby. Balkan Scientists Sound System named in the beginning Balkan Scientist Dub Project (or Balkan Scientist vol.6) was finally born! It had an important new element compared with its predecessors - the deejay section. The concept this time was also different. The Deep Space Deejays who are indeed some of Bulgaria’s global beat and dub/reggae pioneers create (or select) a musical basis, a “riddim” on which the musicians improvise while they process part of the sound with delay and reverb effects. 
On 24th of February 2010 the first line up of the new formation came to the Light! On stage were Elitza Todorova - voice and percussion (Bulgarian Eurovision finalist and folk diva), Kostadin Genchev - kaval , AteshHan - guitar, Horhe - didgeridoo and the Deep Space Deejays ( Mihail Dimov, Atanas Rusev & Ivaylo Stoyanov) supported by the Bulgarian dubstep pioneer Georgi Penkov – Exo. The audience was astonished – this music made it often freeze and after that burst in frantic applauses!
Basically Balkan Scientists Sound System came as a combination of the musical forms of traditional Bulgarian folklore and the discoveries of classic Jamaican dub and contemporary electronic music. 
The group experiments persistently on the creation of this brand new sound in their studio giving several concerts per year mostly on festivals – the grand “Beglika Free Fest”, SEEME Sofia Music Conference, “Golden Kuker Festival”. 
Although the formation is quite new - its members are very well known for their musical skills and experience – the Deep Space Deejays are founders of the Global Vision Circle and Zionlionz Soundsystem - two of the main forces behind the strong new Bulgarian underground scene, and the folklore musicians are famous as key members of some of the most successful Bulgarian musical export acts like ”Ivo Papazov and His Wedding Band”, “EVA Quartet” and “Bulgara” .
With “weapons” like that the Balkan Scientists Sound System is steadily on its mission to open the gates and bring some of the immense treasures of the Bulgarian tradition to the ears of the world. As the authentic Bulgarian folklore is well known around the globe among the hard core world music lovers, but so far never achieved a mainstream or a major festival success in its modern versions. The Balkan Scientists come to fill this gap combining the ancient melodies and contemporary beats, delivering precious musical jewels born by a thousand years tradition wrapped in the sound of the future.

иновативен, богат на идеи и изключително танцувален звук, който бе представен на публиката под формата на клубни партита-изненади, съчетаващи в себе си музикални експерименти на живо и горещи DJ сетове на балканска тематика.

За петте си издания проектът Balkan Scientist събра на една сцена музиканти от различни стилове, поколения, етноси и традиции, които импровизираха и създадоха заедно жива музика с едновременно ново звучене и балкански привкус!

По този начин Balkan Scientist се превърна в УНИКАЛНО място за среща между ромски виртуози (Венци Такев, Данго Илиев, Кольо Иванов), легендарни имена в българската народна музика (Янка Рупкина, Светльо Жилев, Добри Байчаря), джаз, рок и етно музиканти (Васил Гюров – група Ревю, Росен Захариев-Роко, Жоро Дончев, Асен Хайдутов, Николай Иванов – група ОМ) с ърбан бийт боксъри и улични музиканти (Skiller, Exo, Horhe`s Didgeridoo Crew) и диджеи от различни музикални направления (Zion, Bai POP, Dharba, Brown Sugar, Africandro). Dubmission Records have blazed a trail of warped woofers since the mid 90’s, when they launched with a trio of bass heavy dubwise compilations. 

In 1996, they kicked off with the Mashing Up Creation album, which featured tracks by Doof, Adelphi and http://soundcloud.com/andyguthrie amongst others. It was reviewed favourably by The Sunday Times, DJ and Sleaze Nation – the latter describing it as “carrying on where original dub hijackers The Orb left off!” It was swiftly followed by Dubbed On Planet Skunk, with stand out tracks from http://soundcloud.com/zion-train, Quirk and Alpha & Omega. The third instalment took 2 years to put together – More Bass Than Space was a double album which represented every spectrum of the modern dub scene, with tunes from artists as diverse as Hallucinogen, http://soundcloud.com/woob, http://soundcloud.com/solarquest, Singers&Players and Tribal Drift. It sold well all over the world, and led to tours of Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and USA.

From 2001-5, the Dubmission crew concentrated more on artist management and event promotion than releasing records. However after hearing Ape to Angel by http://soundcloud.com/pitchblacknz, they decided to bring Dubmission out of “retirement”, as it represented everything and more that the label had tried to achieve.  

Since then the label has gone from strength to strength, with several more releases from http://soundcloud.com/pitchblacknz (Frequencies Fall, Rude Mechanicals, Rhythm, Sound & Movement plus their first two albums, Futureproof and Electronomicon), as well as Seen, Heard and Felt by http://soundcloud.com/international-observer, Make Animals Happy by http://soundcloud.com/warptechnique, Third Ear Audio’s Third Ear Audio and Paddy Free’s Karekare. The crew has also found time to compile two smoky collections for the Japanese label, Wakyo: On A Dubmission Volumes One and Two.

In 2010, to celebrate 15 years of business, they released 15 titles, including new EPs by http://soundcloud.com/pitchblacknz, http://soundcloud.com/warptechnique, Doof and Green Monitor, plus re-issued classic but deleted albums by Bluey, Stress Assassin and Bill&Ben, as well as playing 15 shows around the world and uploading 15 DJ mixes of Dubmission music to download.
