Entgegen der öffentlichen Auffassung existiert das Kornkreis Phänomen bereits seit einigen hundert Jahren. In über 60 Ländern wurden mehr als 6000 Fälle dokumentiert. Jährlich kommen schätzungsweise weltweit 150 - 300 Formationen hinzu. Eines der eindrucksvollsten Gebilde wurde 2001 im englischen Wiltshire entdeckt. Jenes Exemplar bestand aus 409 Kreisen und erstreckte sich über eine Fläche von gut 50 000 Quadratmetern. Sowohl die  Entstehung, als auch die Macher hinter diesen Kunstwerken geben Forschern seit jeher Rätsel auf. 
Bei den typischen Kornkreisen handelt es sich um Piktogramme. Sie präsentieren sich ausschließlich als geometrischer Korpus und jede der Formen ist absolut einzigartig. Über Nacht tauchen sie wie aus dem nichts auf und ihre Erschaffer hinterlassen keine Spuren. 
Mit bloßem Auge sind die meisten Kornkreise kaum zuerkennen. Um sich ein realistisches und umfassendes Bild zu machen, sollte man die Kreisformationen aus der Luft betrachten. Nur so offenbart sich ihre ganze Pracht & Tragweite. 
Die Feldkunstwerke beinhalten versteckte Botschaften oder behandeln mathematische Probleme u/o Formeln. Jedoch werden die meisten abgemäht, bevor sie entschlüsselt werden können. Einige dieser Exemplare waren nachweislich Menschen gemacht. Um dies zu demonstrieren, haben sich bereits viele Journalisten, Wissenschaftler und Spaßvögel selbst an der Errichtung eines Kornkreises probiert. Jedoch reichten diese Kreise kaum an die Perfektion und intellektuelle Leistungen der unverfälschten Modelle heran. Darüber hinaus wurden einige Anomalien an und in den unerklärlichen Exemplaren festgestellt. Zum Beispiel konnten erhöhte Strahlungswerte gemessen und eine Veränderung in der Pflanzenstruktur belegt werden.
Unabhängig von den Urhebern hinter diesem Phänomen, handelt es sich um ein interessantes Vorkommnis. Wer sich einmal mit diesem Thema beschäftigt, kommt aus dem Staunen und grübeln nicht mehr heraus. Kornkreise sind eines von vielen, faszinierenden Mysterien dieser Welt ...
