Opening Ceremonies at Echoes Fest 2025 - This was an unscheduled but much needed set as musical programming was not scheduled until the evening of day 1. Festival attendees arrived early and were ready to kick things off for a proper weekend. Chris and I provided the musical landscape for the first 4 hours as festival goers setup camp and started their weekend. Was an absolute pleasure working with Chris and so many other amazing and wonderful people behind the Echoes team. We were blessed and inspired.

About the mix:

I wanted to create something fun and energetic for my Yoon family. In general I try to program my sets in a journey kind of format, starting off spacey and minimal and then kicking the grooves into more bouncy and thumping beats and bigger sounds, and then eventually tapering off into deeper energetic territories after the peak hour kind of music. I kept the bpms low because I dont like making fast sets for podcasts, however I dont think the listener will notice because of the energy that is in the music. Def lots of hands in the air/ face melter moments, and beautiful ones as well. Enjoy.

Up next on Brooklyn’s Scissor & Thread is the latest EP from @Snad, aka Shyam Anand (also known as Spandrel), the Berlin-based artist whose discography already spans labels like Smallville, Minibar, 20:20 Vision, Phonica AM, TerraFirm, Running Back, Cabinet, Kimochi and Dungeon Meat with remixes for names including Seafoam and Chez Damier. 

A trusted selector and producer in the underground, Snad has steadily built a reputation for deeply considered productions that balance classic inspiration with his own forward-thinking edge.

The AM Yard EP opens with its title track, a warm, hazy cut rooted in the kind of bassline architecture that recalls Chez n Trent’s Morning Factory but reshaped with Snad’s signature dreamlike touch. 

Anticip8 fanchors the release with a more direct energy, rolling, insistent and focused on the floor, balancing stripped-down drive of dusty samples wrung through his digitakt with just enough harmonic flourish to pull the listener inward.
