Soulface is a French DJ and producer who has a passion for various music genres such as House, Deep & Soulful House, Afro House, Afro Deep, RnB, Néo Soul & G-Funk. He was influenced by bands like Kool & The Gang and Earth Wind & Fire and in 1997, he was drawn to groups like Daft Punk, Cassius, and Demon.

He joined BlackBeam Records in 2007, a Montpellier-based crew founded by Kemko, and then became a reviewer and resident DJ for Puissance5 in 2009. In the same year, he started the "Soulface In The House" podcast and was introduced to the famous web radio Paris One Deeper. In 2011 and 2012, he participated in the Soulful Meeting at Six Fours Les Plages alongside other notable artists.

Recently, Soulface started his own show on Beatwinus Radio in Paris and joined Nemo aka Pashaa's radio show "Keeping The Vibe Alive" on the label Strictly Rhythm. In February 2013, he joined the radio Maxximixx Housefloor, and in 2016, he participated in the ADE event in Amsterdam with Moblack Records. In 2018, he became part of the Odyssey Residency on the radio show of South African duo Neuvikal Soule & Dj Mreja on Drums Radio.

Soulface has been signed to various record labels, including Moblack Records (Italy), Vibe Boutique Records (New York), Merecumbe Records (New York), Funkhut (Baltimore), Makin Moves (London), Deep Soul Space (Greece), Blu Lace (South Africa), Kanzen Records (South Africa), Skalla Records (South Africa), Ancestral Recordings (South Africa), and Muzitanium (South Africa).

SSOH

In 1995, deep in the vibrant, pumping heart of Paris, French DJ and producer Claude Monnet put into place the beginnings of now world-renowned label SSOH. Designed to be a ‘salon’ of ground-breaking, quality dance music, from the start there were to be no finite lines; no boundaries that could not be crossed through the expression of music. As long as a track could stand firm by itself, expressing quality, individuality and passion, it would find a home in the SSOH stable. Jazz, techno, house, deep house, Afro beat, Afro Latin and more, were all strains that ran thick through productions leaving SSOH from its very earliest of days.

Fast forward to 2011 and today SSOH is recognized as one of the core labels for pure, unadulterated electronic beats. With groove as its defining factor and rhythm its heart beat, release after release from artists such as Rodriguez Jr, Dimitri From Paris, Franck Roger, Rocco, Art of Tones, Ludovic Lorca, DJ Gregory, Julien Jabre, Abicah Soul, Pastaboys, Bangana, Claude Monnet himself and more, flow out; lighting up dance floors and radio waves and igniting the touch paper of inspiration for younger producers coming up through the ranks.

Not just singles come from SSOH; conceptual ideas like the Back 2 Fundamentals movement are also part of the creative process. Bringing the focus squarely back to the basic principles of funk and dance, Back 2 Fundamentals proved to be an explosion of epic quality on its first installment. Drawing on the wealth of underground house talent and the history of the French electronic movement, The French ‘Touche’ was an unqualified success, celebrating urban lifestyle, street culture and live performance as well as music. 2012 will see Claude release Back 2 Fundamentals: The Nouvelle Vague – a second installment that concentrates on the future of the underground and fresh Techno artists who bring new dynamics to the scene.

Whether it’s compilations, concepts, EPs or single releases, SSOH stands as a flag bearer for undeniable quality, uncompromising artistic control and a heart-felt understanding for the dynamics and possibilities of the dance floor. After a quarter of a century, something almost unheard of for any independent electronic labels, SSOH continues to be the benchmark for many pretenders to the throne of house.

DJ Producer remixer since 1996, “1977” aka Matsa is one of the finest representative of the famous art we call Turntablism. Former crew member of « Turntable Dragunz » (La Cosca, IAM) from Marseille, he worked as consultant for the DMC France & DMC Canada (vidéos, dvds akd mix) for his scratch and amazing skills behind decks. Presenting demo & showcases for years since he played along masters from the musical scene, Techno, House, Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz & Funk : Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Moodyman, Josh Wink , Dj Spinna, Dj Vadim, Maceo Parker, Roy Ayers in festivals & clubs around Europe (Les Nuits Sonores Lyon, Marsatac Marseille, Midem Cannes, les Francofolies of Montréal, The Fabrik Live in London, Rex Club Paris, Silencio, Bourbon, Badaboom, Concrete in Paris...) Focusing now on music production from Break beat to Deep House / House and Down tempo… he has joined labels under various names (1977, Greatshell, Mr Matsa, The Pimp, Smokey Bastards)
