DJ, producer and record collector Trujillo’s trajectory from Venezuela to Berlin is as colourful as his music. His well-honed sense of soul, disco and tropical 80s house rhythms comes paired with an unparalleled devotion to digging up dusty dance floor heat. 

Trujillo grew up in Merida, Venezuela, where records were a part of daily family life. His grandfather opened the city's first modern art museum and had a longstanding tradition of playing classical music everyday at lunchtime. His father had a vast collection of 60s and 70s rock and gifted Trujillo his first record when he was five years old and he’s never looked back. 

He wrote some words about his mix:

“During the last few months, I’ve been touring paradise islands in the Caribbean. Every day, I used to go to shell beach, a place with a magic view, just the perfect spot for watching the sunset and the waves dancing to the rhythm of my playlists, while dreaming to come back playing for crowds. On my return to Berlin, I decided to put together all these musical memories in a mix which I called Dreamwaves. When my good friend and fellow digger Danny asked me to join the exquisite Idle Cellar’s podcast series, I thought this would be the perfect summer soundtrack for enjoy a good glass of wine whilst watching the sunset.”

Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to stay for 10 days in a beautiful apartment in Sarajevo, almost perfectly preserved, retaining all the vintage flavor of past decades from an era that no longer exists.
Inspired by this experience, I recorded a one-hour exclusive selection featuring my favorite tracks from the '70s to the '90s, spanning the former Yugoslavian countries.
