Swedish dream-pop trio ViVii release their new single ‘Suckerpunch’ on October 12th through Dumont Dumont (Ry X, Charlie Cunningham, Josin). Ethereal, delirium-laced pop bolted thick with layers and gossamer strands.

‘Suckerpunch’ follows on from ViVii’s critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Savant’ which was released at the end of May and features lead single ‘Savant’ and debut single ‘Siv (You & I). Both singles reached the #2 spot on the Hype Machine chart and saw praise from online tastemakers including The Line of Best Fit, DIY Mag, Indie Shuffle (Best of April), Earmilk, Hilly Dilly, All Things Go (Best Songs of the Week), Crack in The Road amongst many others. The EP has clocked up over 2 millions streams online and includes two other spine tingling tracks ‘Ali’ and ‘Some Other Time’. Stream ViVii’s ‘Savant EP’ here. They also recorded and released a COVER of Harry Styles ‘Sign Of The Times’ for the Mahogany Sessions. 

The trio is made up of Emil and Caroline Jonsson and their enigmatic work partner Anders Eckeborn. Speaking about their relationship Emil explains, “We work with another guy, but he doesn't like the limelight at all...” “Anders is amazing, he loves all noises,” continues Caroline. “It took ages, we were so slow before, but once we met Anders it became easy – we are all slow workers individually but together it's beautiful. It's always so natural.”

It's taken ViVii decades to reach this point – a fairytale ending with glorious music to show for it. Everything has led them to a dizzy high; but this is no true end to anything – this is just the beginning.

‘Static’ is the debut EP from Safetalk, aka Berlin based British singer David Harks and Parisian producers Hugues Tonnet & Thomas Desnoyers. Featuring the brand new single, ‘Static’, previous releases ‘Universal’, ‘Gold of the Highest’ and ‘Mimic’ plus a new remix by Parisian producer Royer, the EP sees the band continue to explore the point in space where hypnagogic soul collides with psychedelic electronic music and interstellar RnB-inspired rhythms.

Where the band’s previous releases have offered some respite from the maelstrom of sound and fury that’s engulfed us the past few years, ‘Static’ sees the band confront the injustices of the 21st Century, and the refugee crisis that has swept over Europe, head-on.

In an age when our worst instincts are constantly fed back to ourselves with a passionate intensity, when our societies continue to atomise and fragment Safetalk offer us an alternative, a protest song that demands inclusion, that wants to lift up the nameless and unknown.

Alongside ‘Static’ the EP features the band’s previous singles that saw them tipped by the likes of Clash, Vice’s Creators Platform and the Ransom Note. From the uplifting, transcendental ‘Universal’ through to the mechanical hymn of ‘Mimic’ and ‘G.O.T.H’s ode to human potential, Safetalks fusion of pulsating electronic rhythms, radiant synths and tender vocals combine to create machine music made with heart and soul.

Finally acting as a coda to the EP the band asked their friend, Parisian producer Royer to remix ‘Gold of the Highest’. The result is a stunning ambient reworking that distils the track to a lambent wash of serene synths and provides a perfect meditative ending to the band’s debut EP.
