UK-based Jay Robinson makes his debut on Psycho Disco! with the Lopsided EP, containing two tracks that deliver the funk and UK bass influence to a classic 4/4 house / dance beat. Having commandeered his place in the House scene by DJing alongside many reputable DJs, in the best clubs, released on some of Psycho Disco!’s fellow labels, seen plenty of radio time, and more, we’re very proud to have a producer like Jay release material with us. The title track “Lopsided” plays into a shimmying drum loop with enough pomp and wobble perfect for 2017’s House vibe. “ANBG” which we’ll leave you to work out what that stands for, is a verified toe-tapper with an infectious hook. No doubt Jay is well on his way to verified House don status, with two more tracks here to prove it.

While the B side, They Might Just, takes things in a more eclectic stripped down vibe with pulsing synths and dark rhythms, all the while maintaining the pressure with head bobbing drums.

[BIRDFEED EXCLUSIVE] On this week's feed, Miami group Black V Neck bring us "Stop N Go"!

-How long have you been creating music?

We’ve been producing together for five years now, but had individually worked on music before meeting each other. \

-What do you use to make your tracks?

Ableton 4 Life m8; our production process includes a combination of UAD plugins, some analog preamps and compressors, Moog Minitaur, DeepMind12, and for ‘Stop N Go’ we specifically used the Model D synthesizer for the lead.

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?

When we first heard that amazing bass line from Shiba San’s ‘Okay’.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?

Justin Martin, so we can play with all the synths and gear in his new studio.

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?

Men In Black.

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Shrek On Ice. 

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?

Paris in the 90s, so we can see Daft Punk before the helmets. 

-What species of bird best describes you and why?

A Flamingo because we’re from the 305. Dale. 

-What does Dirtybird mean to you?

As Vin Diesel once said…Family.  It is great to be a part of a label with such a loving and supportive community of artists and fans, and we are glad to be a part of it.

Track of the Day: Friendless “Got It Going”

Good things come to those who wait and after 6 plus years of doing just that, we're enthusiastically releasing the first solo EP from our boss Matthew Anthony, titled Mental Notes. The 3-tracker drops on the heels of his "Raw" summer collaboration with friend and fellow Angeleno BOT, as well as his two remixes of Paul Johnson's "Get Get Down" and DJ Godfather's "It's On Again."

The EP houses some crazy sounds, earning its name, Mental Notes: An upbeat Tech House tune paying homage to Matthew's favorite fruit, the title track "Mangoes" was first heard in Claude VonStroke's EDC Las Vegas set and was originally conceived in the familiar #DJsAndCooking web-series kitchen as Matthew's roommate yodeled with glee, "LaLaLaLa LaLaLaLa," slicing open his dessert. The second song, "Story Of My Life," borders a happier side musically, but darkens with the vocal drawing anxiety from unwillingly-endured sleepless nights on tour. The final song, "Alien Eyes," is a chilled-out Techy chugger with robot-like voices repeatedly chanting "Humanize" and is fit for the weirdest of weird parties.

"I'm excited to finally be releasing my first solo EP on Perfect Driver! I actually had to slow down the regular release schedule to free up time to make these. It was a lot of fun focusing on my own stuff and I intend this to be the first of many more to come. Thanks to all for the continued love and support.
