Caruthersville, Missouri – The County Seat
As the county seat of Pemiscot County, Caruthersville holds significant historical importance. The city was officially laid out in 1857 on the Walker plantation by George W. Bushey and J. Hardeman Walker. It was later named in honor of Honorable Samuel Caruthers, a key figure in Missouri’s history.
