<p>Boris has been on a roll lately with high profile releases on Dubfire&#8217;s Sci+Tec, and his own Transmit label. This EP is his follow-up to last years successful release on Tronic. We have two tracks both of which consistently rock the floors. &#8220;Music is Medicine&#8221; is a peaktime techno track that has a fat groove and dark spoken vocal. &#8220;You Know&#8221; is a more chord driven track that&#8217;s slightly more tech house. We are excited for this release and are very happy to have Boris on board for his second release on Tronic! Enjoy and play out loud!</p>

Toronto has long been the home of the amen break in the Great White North, but rarely has the city fathered a top-level drum & bass icon to call its own. Step in Ram Records badman René Lavice. Last year, his tune "Where My Ladies At" was a quintessential dancefloor crusher and a dark horse candidate for 'Best Use of Cowbell in a Dance Track 2014,' and Lavice has kicked off 2015 on similar form with the highly varied two-track release "The Calling/Freudian" on Ram.

Plying her trade as a barrister by day, @throwingshade doesn't conform to the normal trajectory of a young DJ and producer. Taking her name from the seminal documentary Paris Is Burning and a student of ethnomusicology, Nabihah lqbal is - to put it bluntly - a walking musical encyclopedia.

Her own productions touch on the darker regions of RnB and lo-fi house, making the Throwing Shade package altogether impossible to pigeonhole and the perfect candidate for a truly worldwide mix.

Holding a residency at the legendary Guvernment Nightclub as well as Footwork Bar keeps them educating the electronic faithful on a weekly basis in the undisputed capital of electronic music in Canada. Having opened the label doors to debutants from across the globe, many of which are just stepping out on their musical journey, SCI+TEC are happy to present a first release on the label from an artist who has been an integral cog in the US electronic music machine for many years.There are not many resident DJ's who can transport a whole dancefloor following from one club to another. Boris the St. Petersburg native and NYC resident did just that. With the imminent closure of his beloved Crobar and having built a huge loyal following through his three year residency, he simply uprooted, moved the 20 blocks north to Pacha New York and continued the party with his "Believe in Boris" faithful. Boris is the latest in a long line of NYC residents that have bonded tightly with their crowd and risen to become folk heroes, both in the US and across the pond. Having plied his groove-based power-house sound across the finest clubs in the US in the early 2000's, it wasn't long before Boris was lending his musical talents to remixing some of the biggest names in pop and finding his name at the top of the Billboard Club chart. On the underground, where he's most at home, Boris has wowed us with his club smashes "I Can't Wait"(Toolroom), "Ariba" (Great Stuff) and the classic "The Drums" (Nervous Records).His debut double-header for SCI+TEC sees Boris presenting his unrivalled dancefloor knowledge in the form of "Generate" and "Foul Beats". Nothing rotten here though, just two prime slices of techno. Whilst the a side warms us with its funky bassline and and elasticated poppin' riff, the b side is pure NYC with its heads-down no-nonsense pile-driver of a kickdrum. One for the darkrooms, its intense atmosphere and huge build will ensure many roof raising moments. Also included on the package is the equally intense and powerful digital exclusive cut, "Check It."

It’s all about the music. New York stalwart and beloved DJ, Boris, lives by that statement each and every day. He is a man wearing many hats; one as a touring DJ, another as a producer dynamo and lastly as a label boss of Transmit Recordings. A career forged over decades of long nights in the Big Apple’s most revered rooms. From the infamous Roxy to Crobar to the once dominating Pacha NY on 46th Street, Boris maintained a following so devout, so loyal they were truly ‘Believers’. Pioneering a music movement in a city filled with those who have so little time to pay attention, Boris has been a production powerhouse when not performing for the masses. He’s been tapped by industry leaders such as Carl Cox for his label Intec, Dubfire for his label Sci-Tec, Paco Osuna and his Mindshake records, amongst countless others.

His ability behind the decks and in the studio has not only made him a New York favorite, but his music has taken him places all around the world ranging from the shores of Playa Del Carmen to the magical White Isle known as Ibiza. Known to many as the ‘DJ’s DJ’, Boris has had the career most DJs can only wish to have. The trends, they may change but the New York native has stayed true to his drum driven sounds and created his own niche in the wide and vast world of electronic music. Taking bits and pieces from every part of the globe he visits, Boris always maintains a piece of home in his music. 

Even though his career spans nearly three decades, the journeyman DJ has yet to falter.
