2015 saw Stephan Bodzin release his second full length, “Powers of Ten”, as well as a new single on DJ Tennis’ and Tale of Us’ taste making label Life and Death. The album is another magical piece of work that focuses on melody and rhythm, on fat bass and vivid sound design and is a truly captivating journey through the mind, music, body and soul of one of dance music’s truly modern greats. After its release, a great team of modern music makers was enlisted to remix tracks from it: Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan-Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more all contributed to what is an essential collection. With a remix of ‘Sleepless’, a Pan-Pot track from their latest album, Stephan Bodzin closed the latest chapter of 2015 in what has been an exhilarating musical journey in his capable and creative hands.

3 QUESTIONS to MEGGY:

Q: Going through your beautiful selection tells a lot of storys. How did you find and select all those old records in your collection?

A: Of course I remember the songs that influenced me in those early days.
We‘ve had only a few CDs we listened to the whole time, mostly in the car or before partying. I remember there where a few people carrying lots of GB of recorded underground sets around, we were so glad when we got our hands on at least some of the stuff.

Q: Would you still play some of these tracks?

A: I def would. That Miss Kittin and The Hacker tune is a masterpiece if u ask me, some of the tracks are not really my sound anymore but what is anyway?!

Q: Looking into 2019: What are your plannings, which exciting projects are you working on?

A: I recently started working on new club music planned to be released in 2019. Also I‘m moving out of Berlin for a while for the first time in my life. Excitiiing!

Jannick Fischer:

I see the divergence between producing one's own tracks and the pure playing of music by other artists. For most DJs the DJing of 'other-peoples-music' is the entry into the scene and the chance to contribute something to this cultural branch. Of course, the best way to express one's character is to produce one's own piece of music. But the possibilities and effect of a specially compiled set should not be underestimated. Since the first club appearances at the end of 2012 in the Wiesbaden and Mainz area, my credo has been spinning a strong red thread and meticulous track selection. A strong engagement with the music of other artists inspires immensely and can be a fantastic possibility to translate music into emotions.
Meanwhile almost 6 years have passed and Marburg has proven to be a great place for special parties and a great feeling.
My sets can still be seen as a snapshot of a continuum of mood, in which I would like to include special artists and their special tracks for me. I hope to be able to convince the listeners of these pieces of music as well.

Transmissions 260 with Alex Stein

It’s all about the music. New York stalwart and beloved DJ, Boris, lives by that statement each and every day. He is a man wearing many hats; one as a touring DJ, another as a producer dynamo and lastly as a label boss of Transmit Recordings. A career forged over decades of long nights in the Big Apple’s most revered rooms. From the infamous Roxy to Crobar to the once dominating Pacha NY on 46th Street, Boris maintained a following so devout, so loyal they were truly ‘Believers’. Pioneering a music movement in a city filled with those who have so little time to pay attention, Boris has been a production powerhouse when not performing for the masses. He’s been tapped by industry leaders such as Carl Cox for his label Intec, Dubfire for his label Sci-Tec, Paco Osuna and his Mindshake records, amongst countless others.

His ability behind the decks and in the studio has not only made him a New York favorite, but his music has taken him places all around the world ranging from the shores of Playa Del Carmen to the magical White Isle known as Ibiza. Known to many as the ‘DJ’s DJ’, Boris has had the career most DJs can only wish to have. The trends, they may change but the New York native has stayed true to his drum driven sounds and created his own niche in the wide and vast world of electronic music. Taking bits and pieces from every part of the globe he visits, Boris always maintains a piece of home in his music. 

Even though his career spans nearly three decades, the journeyman DJ has yet to falter. We currently find him playing leading to destinations across the globe and his music is in high demand with forthcoming releases many sought after labels, Boris will is constantly on the tips of the younger generation’s tongue.
