Introducing our good friend and fellow Podcast founder of Soul Room Sessions - Darius Kramer... stoked to have Darius back with us with a dope mix for Series 3. Enjoy... and heres a little Bio below for those of you know dont know Darius.

Playing other peoples music for other peoples enjoyment since 1993.

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict". He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio. He was hooked from then on. He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back.

When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves. After getting tired of both the late nights and politics in the scene, he decided it was time to hang up the headphones in the early 2000s, but the love of house music still burned inside of him as the years passed.

In 2013 he decided he wanted to get back into DJ'ing and purchased a basic Pioneer controller and started to collect digital tracks again. Over the past few years Darius has been busy making a name for himself in the underground scene with numerous guest mix appearances around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few. He also started the very popular "SPEED BUMPS" mix series which showcases his love for hip hop and jazz as he shows his versatility as a DJ by blending mixes of nu jazz, hip hop instrumentals and acid jazz flavours reminiscent of Mark Farina's legendary series, Mushroom Jazz.

He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful and jazzy side of house music and downtempo beats with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong!

In 2017 Darius got his first taste of out of town gigging playing live shows all over the West Coast from his hometown in Vancouver, to San Francisco and Oakland. Stay tuned for much more from him in the near future!

A Tribute To Dance Music (2024)

What's shakin funky people!?  We are back with Volume 209 of the series and we are thrilled to welcome our friend from Chile and super dope DJ/Producer MiNNt Edit to Soul Room Sessions!

Dj & house music producer from Viña del Mar. He introduced himself to the house music scene with his unique DJ sets on several renowned podcasts around the globe. After that, he launched his record label 'Spiritualized Music', which focused on the best of house & downtempo music. Then he started producing and founded his sounds on a wide spectrum that goes from deep house to soulful and underground house.

JC Hanna and Kinetic Productions Crossed paths at an event called ESCAPE IN THE BEATS. When both he and Cameron Kelly (among MANY others played.) He is another prime example of how beautiful the house community really is. Instant family. He continues to push the sound through countless projects and we are excited to see him again, at ESCAPE this year!

Kinetic Sessions XXVII - JC HANNA 

Deep in the game for well over a decade, JC is not new to the scene by any stretch. After an introduction to rave culture and house music in the mid 90s, his life would never be the same. He's been involved in the scene in all aspects from promoter, to dj, to sound engineer, label owner, and producer he's known for top notch efforts and quality across the board. Not interested in the fame fortune like many of these new "DJs" coming up, JC's main focus has been and will always be THE MUSIC. Be it deep, tech, filtered, or otherwise... in some form or another, he'll be playing house music till the day he dies. Working with Jonn Hawley at Soul Fuel Recordings and in the studio as Shadow People he's garnered respect from the underground community both regionally and worldwide. With forthcoming releases on Lingo Recordings (Cincinnati), Smoke City Music (NYC/Huddersfield), and their own imprint Soul Fuel Recordings (Milwaukee) this local favorite shows no signs of slowing down soon.

C.C. Rider is Co-founder of FatFunk Productions and is one-half of the dynamic duo, Beatlab, and . He also hosts a monthly podcast, Digitech FM, on Sugar Shack Radio the first Saturday of every month from 2-4pm CST. C.C. Rider has held several residencies over the last couple decades including ELEV8 and Paulie's! His funky style and unparalleled passion have kept him going in a forgotten land along the I-55 corridor smack dab between Chicago and St Louis. 

C.C. Rider aka Chris Thompson usually plays with his counterpart Hijinx as Beatlab, but occasionally steps outside of that for solo mixes, and this is where you can find those unique grooves! Chris has been influenced by artists like Joey Negro, DJ Dan, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, Giano and Jamiroquai. Also, Breaks legends DJ Icey and DJ Baby Anne and Techno powerhouses like Timo Maas and Frankie Bones. Chris grew up a classically trained musician.  Raised on Funk, Soul, Jazz and Blues, his influences are evident throughout his mixes and performances! Chris began his DJ career in 1998, and has traversed the dance music landscape. Experimenting with multiple genre sets in his early days saw him garner some nice local support, but he is best known for his unrelenting groovy baselines and energetic style behind the decks!

Chris has been involved with the Central Illinois House Music scene for nearly 2 decades, and along with the FatFunk crew, their hard work is evident in a ripe scene with a nice depth of talent. The Chicago and Midwest dance music scene had a strong impact on many people in central Illinois. This fact is reflected in the many faces of talented DJs across central Illinois. FatFunk was founded in 2012 and is comprised of about a dozen incredibly talented DJs and Artists with a vast level of combined experience. Together, they put on some of the best intimate affairs in the Midwest!! Chris' vision for the last 5+ years, has been to unite those artists and DJs through quality event production and a relentless approach to bringing these talented individuals out into the light for all to see.
