Si bien que la perfection littéraire de son oeuvre a fait passer celle de Suétone et de ses Douze Césars comme bien fade. Au cours de cette émission, Virginie Girod nous explique comment Tacite et ses fameuses Annales sont aujourd'hui reconsidérés par les historiens. Interrogée par Christophe Dickès, elle répond aux questions suivantes:

- Qui était Cornélius Tacite?
- D'où vient le titre des Annales?
- En quoi Tacite reste t'il un des plus grands historiens de l'Antiquité?

Notre professeur: Docteur en histoire, Virginie Girod a travaillé sous la direction de Yann Le Bohec. Elle est spécialiste de l’histoire des femmes et de la sexualité dans l’Antiquité romaine. En 2013, elle publie un ouvrage très remarqué: Les Femmes et le sexe dans la Rome antique qui a été réédité dans la collection de poche Texto des éditions Tallandier. Chez Tallandier, elle est aussi l’auteur d’une biographie consacrée à la mère de l’empereur Néron, Agrippine la Jeune et à l’impératrice Théodora.
