Umlaut Big Band is an orchestra of fourteen musicians that, under the direction of Pierre-Antoine Badaroux, explores both the historical "swing" repertory of big bands based on sound archives and manuscripts (1920-1940), through the music of Don Redman, Mary Lou Williams, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Benny Carter and others, but also European musicians. They developed a repertory of over 200 tracks and released 5 records in 10 years.

In the manner of the orchestras of early music, the historical research carried out from rare scores and recordings, is based on the intimate conviction that the arrangers, rarely featured in the history of jazz, are creators who never stop inventing new forms.

Too rarely tackled by composers in our days, the form of the big band is ideal for rich sound explorations, and starting a dialogue between a long tradition linked to jazz and the forms of contemporary inventions.

In its performances, the band favors the acoustic as well as a warm and festive atmosphere, whether they are playing in a concert hall or on a village square.

In residency at the Théâtre de l’Aquarium (La Cartoucherie, Paris) from end of 2019 to 2022, upon the invitation of the company La Vie Brève.

Christian is an international Swing DJ spinning jazz, swing & blues tunes from and in the style of the 1920s-1950s. He is also the founder of the online magazine "Swing DJ Resources".

K Quintet's debut album "Something Else" harkens back to the classic straight ahead jazz of the 60's and 70's, with names like Oscar Peterson, Red Garland and Ben Webster as influences. To achieve this the K Quintet lead by bassist David Duffy and singer Ksenia Parkhatskaya went to Vertigo Studios in Barcelona, Spain. A haven of vintage microphones, preamps and to tape recording facilities to achieve that classic 60s jazz timbre. And assembled some of the leading jazz players from Barcelona over two separate sessions for their debut album.

These "original" classic tunes were written by Duffy and wife dancer Ksenia Parkhatskaya to allow Ksenia access to royalty free swing music to continue creating to, with record labels slowly tightening the noose on online copyright. 

The result was an album of classic standards, and new standards.

Big Fat Swing est un groupe de swing toulousain composé de 6 musiciens professionnels.
En s'inspirant de la chaleur du Jazz New Orleans et du répertoire percussif des Big Band des années 30/40, Big Fat Swing souhaite moderniser et redonner ses lettres de noblesse au "Bal Swing" en proposant un spectacle dynamique, festif, intégrant musiciens et danseurs, où le chant et les cuivres ont la part belle. ...
