Bicep Boiler Room x AVA Festival DJ Set

After Hours

Almost exactly a year ago myself and fellow Geordie Patrick Topping took over the controls at The Cosmic Ballroom in Newcastle.
We’ve known each other for a long time (certainly for a lot longer than most people outside of Newcastle will have known of either us).
When I first met Patrick, he was literally just about to throw his first ever party in Newcastle and I  was co-running a small but well respected underground event in town, as well as making my first forays in to releasing music (both as 1/3 of Last Waltz).
Since then our trajectories, while being wildly different, have definitely defied both our expectations.
Suffice to say, we both come from the same background (give or take 10 years of evolution) and we’d been desperate to play back to back for years before we finally made this happen.
To set the scene, advance tickets for this sold out within around 45 minutes, and the club was at capacity within 15 minutes of opening (so, at 10.15).

Our next Podcast comes from the Deciduous crew. Deciduous are a trio comprised of like minded individuals, which came to flourish in Deciduous Forest on the banks of Tara Hill. They aim to bring their listeners on a musical journey through the use of progressive synths and melodic drum patterns. The music which they provide suits an array of settings from small to large, dark to bright.

Since their formation in 2017, Deciduous have played at some of Ireland’s most renowned spaces, including the likes of District 8, Wigwam and the Button Factory. They have also played at a number of marque Irish festivals this year - Life Festival, Knockanstockan and Boxed Off  

They run regular nights in Navan, Co. Meath and recently celebrated their third birthday in FortyOne. Over the last couple of months they have focused heavily on their production with their 1st released scheduled for early 2019. 

The mix includes tracks from some of their favorite artists, which includes the like of Tale of Us, Pizetsky, Mario Carnal, Fideles and many others.
