Maff Boothroyd - House Sessions volume 12 - Piano Vocals // Badass Baselines (Free Download)

Mixing up modern tracks, classic disco and some of his own productions, Frankie plays a party set of extended mixes, kicking off with his and Eric Kupper’s sumptuous arrangement of Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff. Taking in original disco with Lou Rawl’s “You’ll Never Find A Love Like Mine”, the soulful, gospel tinges are put up against the tougher elements and classic pianos  of Spencer Parker & Dan Beaumont’sThe Look.

With classic vocal American garage tunes like the tightly wrought Dbow “Get Involved” and the effortlessly but sublimely tuned dub of Eric Kupper’s “Disco Revenge” midway through the set, Frankie then turns to a Hacienda classic, the David Morales Defmix version of Juliet Robert’s “Caught In The Middle”, a record which had the original Hacienda spellbound back in 1993.

Taking it deeper to the close, the deep bassline and twisted soul of Alfredo Azzetto’s remix of “The Word Is Love” is followed by  Frankie’s homage to New York’s Sound Factory with his tribal disco remix of Sounds Of Blackness “The Pressure Pt 1”, itself a Knuckles classic. To end, he then brings in Black Legend’s, “You See The Trouble With Me” before rounding up with Robert Gaez’s re-rub of Frankie’s “Get Over U”.

A great set from one of house music’s undoubtedly legendary figures, This Is Frankie Knuckles.

In its original mix incarnation 'Hopasa' it's about vocal snippets and an elasticated bassline alongside simple but effective percussion sounds. Atapy reduced the track to its essentials and build from there, creating a deep vibe in which the pads rise to reveal a frantic energy. ICS version is 100% dancefloor dedicated, with the focus on rhythmic synth, heavy kick and bass. The vocals rise and fall putting the strong groove into the light. And finally, Beatamines & David Jach delivered a sub driven club remix. A delicate vocal touch over the track, bringing it to life in an elegant way while the bassline drive the tracks energy higher. Cindel grew up in the birthplace of House music surrounded by the four on the floor and the music that emanated from the basements on the South Side and the cultural legacy of clubs like the Warehouse. If you have not guessed it, we are talking about the historic influences bequeathed by the originators Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy and Paul Johnson in the Windy City of Chicago.
This is where House found a home and from that nascent rising it has spawned genres that have gone to circle the globe. In recent times, it is the tribal richness of Afro House that has been creating waves in the underground scene, and DJ Producer Cindel is one of those rare talents who is able to bring all its elements together to deliver extraordinary textures of beats, rhythms, and melodies.
A wizard behind the decks, his fluid approach to mixing breathes life into the dancefloor as he takes his audiences on a never-ending journey learnt through a 20-year career in the game. Known as The King of Drums, he owes the very essence of that title to his Puerto Rican heritage. The flamboyance of that genetic imprint is writ large in his character and he is in high demand globally for that magic dust he sprinkles on the turntables. 
From supporting icons of the industry such as Chus & Ceballos during Pride NYC at the Pier Dance to playing in Tokyo, Korea, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Great Britain and much of Europe, Canada, Mexico and coast to coast in the USA, his sets are renowned for their electrifying and mesmerising blends and song selection.
Complimenting that insatiable desire to deliver impeccable music, Cindel has also been immersed in the studio to create tracks that set a new standard on the Afro scene. Inspired by producers Danny Tenaglia, Oscar G, Robbie Rivera, Ninetoes, Monkey Safari, Cloone and many more, his releases have consistently shaped the night in a melange of sounds that not only pays tribute to those icons but which also break new ground.
That crossing of boundaries reached new heights with the release of a four track EP in 2024 titled Melodia, with its lead single Astronaut appearing in the Beatport charts. His follow up track in January 2025 Too Far Gone will further enhance his worthy reputation, and with more releases in the pipeline, Cindel is destined to transition from his LGBTQIA+ community into the mainstream with consummate ease.
