Our rebel talent from Ohio, throws down a funky techno live performance James Johnson Jr AKA Plural is one exceptionally talented electronic music producer, composer and DJ known across the world for his hard techno sound. His calm demeanour belies the massive amounts of energy he creates in his highly technical DJ sets, and the ethereal beauty of his live performances with many top-flight DJs swearing by his output, dropping his tracks relentlessly throughout their sets. He grew up in the 80’s listening mostly to soul, RnB and hip-hop. He knew he wanted to follow a musical path, but because he couldn’t rap or sing and was more interested in the beats he decided to become a DJ. His early inspiration came from amazing artists like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Herby Handcock and Public Enemy. after becoming a DJ and discovering so many more styles of music out there, especially techno, it was Jeff Mills, Claude Young, DJ Stingray and The Horrorist to name a few that held his awe.

Needless to introduce James Shaw, alias Sigha, so much the British producer has established a name synonymous with utmost quality when it comes to shaping new forms for electronics, piling up choice releases for Hotflush, Token, Avian and his own imprint Our Circular Sound. Unflinchingly innovative and clinical in his approach towards both DJing and production, Sigha clocks in our series with two-hours spanning most of the variegated post-modernist flavours he’s come to advocate, fusing an enduring taste for reconfigured dubstep tropes, a stripped-down, melancholic 4x4 syntax and above all, that alchemical mixing science that attests to the power of music as a shapeless drive belt for the most fathomless kind of human emotion.

My contribution was recorded live at House Proud Mpls on 10.1.21. Recording is a bit crunchy in some places but it was SUCH a good night I couldn't not share it.
