Kouncil Cuts celebrates its first birthday, and welcomes Japanese artist Stones Taro into the growing roster of emerging artists releasing on the Scottish Label.

Based in Kyoto, Stones Taro’s unique take on UKG, House and Breaks has seen him previously release music with the likes of Dansu Discs, Scuffed Recordings, Yam Records, Highball and has made his tracks become a regular select for respected DJ’s across the globe.
The Brain Cable EP consists of three finely tuned Taro sounds, that perfectly resonate with the feel of the label in recent months. ‘Brain Cable’ and ‘Promise’ are a mid-paced rollers, dosed with post rave influences in all directions. ‘Step Of Love’ widens the selection with a punchy garage stepper, worked to perfection.

Energies Flowing From UK to Japan. Excited to start 2021 with a bang, and share with you a project that we loved every minute of. An exploration into Japanese culture via our lens and working with various talented individuals through this opened door of collaboration. Big Up Keiju & Stones Taro, providing the UKG sounds of Kyoto. With Picasso & PJ Bridger representing London with two rudeboy rhythms. Artistically we also linked up with the majestic Masataka Yoshida aka @mzabc who executed our vision for the artwork in succulent fashion. To compliment that we decided to supply a 1990 Japanese inspired Instazine "Konbini" - speaking to some of the creators involved including UK/Japanese photographer Toby Sakata. Zine compiled by @Prefansty.

We hope this project gives a taster of what is to come for this year and a big thank you to everyone who came on this journey in 2020. Very grateful. To A Great 2021.
