Of all the quintessentially human forces, the voice is one of the most fascinating. From the meanings it can convey to the feelings it is able to conjure, the reach of its powers seem unfathomable. They allow us to communicate and stimulate, to create and articulate. And when we witness its might in music, how powerful it truly is becomes glaringly evident. Vocalisations are our own way to express things that couldn’t possibly be rendered in any other medium and sounds that couldn’t be reproduced by any other instrument. We call and respond, we spook and spell, we sing through life to make it better or just bearable. Thus, when this fabulous new addition to our series arrived, it was refreshing to realise that they were front and centre among the many exquisite elements that make it so vibrant and alluring. What we have here is basically much akin to what our guest does at her Fandango headquarters, one of Berlin’s most celebrated spaces where music lovers find a cosy place to enjoy their objects of affection and obsession. Tania Just’s mix takes us for a wonderful journey across the globe that is masterfully driven by an eclectic selection of rhythms from all over, but mainly guided by this uniquely human artistic resource.

The new 7" single from Öhr Research Technologies is a collaboration between Samo DJ (Trilogy Tapes, L.I.E.S.) and the rapper and vocalist Kamo from the group Off The Meds (Barnhus). Do Not Resist The Beat is a direct, deep, with a twinkle-in-the-eye house track, with lush pads and an eastern flavored break. Jazzy Rap, as the title hints, goes both "jazzy" and rap. A MPC-produced, gritty, hard hitting rap with a drowsy, dreamy and jazzy sound - enjoy!
