About The Rev:
A lifelong disciple of music and playing instruments since the age of 9, The Rev made the decks his pulpit in 1999. Since then, he has spread his ministry across the globe from New York to Detroit to Black Rock City to Amsterdam and most recently the Bay Area.  

This has included residencies at famed New York institutions like Guernica, playing  alongside international talent like Wolf + Lamb, Adam X, Frankie Bones, Adam Jay, Marco Bailey and Jason Jinx to name a few.

He has recently begun to expand his DJ sets with live improvised Electronic Wind Instrument as well as his own original productions.

Live recording! I had the pleasure of playing the midnight slot at the FnF Fall Freak Fest campout just outside Yosemite. Played some tech house bangers in a beautiful setting on a killer sound system (waveworks) and unreal visuals from Radiant Atmospheres. Bit techier than usual for me, but it's still got that kem signature sound and mxing.

Bassben RIPEcast Live @ IAND-BOC 2019

I had the honor of playing MAKE WAVES, the Rhythm Society's spring equinox celebration; an event hosted aboard the USS Hornet (CV-12) docked in Alameda.  In addition to its primary purpose as a WWII aircraft carrier, the Hornet was used to retrieve Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong when they returned to earth following their first moon exploration!  The ship is a combination war-time aircraft and 1960's era space memorabilia museum.

We were granted access to the ship at Noon, had the entire event set up by 9pm (including large-scale sound, lighting, art), opened the doors to over a thousand invitees who (mostly) stayed straight through the night till the last note dropped at dawn.  Following a quick closing ceremony, a swarm of volunteers dismantled, packed, cleaned, and left no trace just two hours later.  This was a massive effort with massive production values, executed with a lot of effort in a way that seemed effortless. Big ups to this amazing community!

(Yet More) From the Archives: Live at Opulent Temple, Tuesday Night 2008

In a fanciful quest to get a set (or 2) from every year at Burning Man I've played here on Soundcloud, here is more unearthed arcana.  This one though is not posting for the sake of posting.  When I look back at all these as a body of work, I consider this one of my best, most favorite sets of all time I've ever played there.

I've referred to this in other postings as a time when 'peak electro' met prime tech funk and break beat, when there was soooo much good music coming out with dirty grooves, indie vocals, and rolling techno inspired backbeat.  I just love every song as it moves through Miles Dyson, Lee Coombs, Justice, Alex Metric, Adam Freeland, Dylan Rhymes, Blende and more.   This is not shaman playa tech sleep house, this is dirty ass intense and distorted playa music that should be played loud.

Like many sets, it also starts with some spoken word.  An intro from myself, and long time friend and conscious moment collaborator at many of my sets, Shahid Buttar (currently running for Congress in SF to unseat Nancy Pelosi).
