After the warm and beautiful indie leaning EP from Dead Heat, Life and Death steps back up to the plate with two fresh dancefloor killers found in Mind Against's new Avalon EP. 

With sounds that seem plucked from an early 80s children's filmstrip gone very wrong (or perhaps very very right) Mind Against weave a dark, inspired charge into the black of night with both sides of this stunning EP.

On the A side is Several Times, a techno gem that comes out of the gate at breakneck pace with solid drums, bass and a rhythmic synth pulse that evolves slowly and strongly until finally augmented by a main analog synth line that reaches over from the other side and grabs you directly by the ears. It's an evocative melody that keeps the listener on edge with tones that are fully present yet almost barely hold together, teetering just on the edge of falling apart but never quite falling away from just where they need to be. A techno themed soundtrack to a disturbing Groundhog Day of the faraway future.

Over on the B side is the EP's namesake with a simmering sound that makes reference to the ancient island home of legendary sorceress Morgan Le Fey, sister of the famous King Arthur and whose mystic ways were to blame for mirages seen by sailors long out at sea. Here again an analog synth casts its spell on the listener, framed by delayed chords and a foreboding low end growl that slowly tell the tale of Avalon. Managing the difficult task of painting a picture without form, Mind Against weave an emotional drama without words and yet their vocabulary of sound seems keenly up to the task. No easy feat but one this duo have proven again and again that they are more than able to accomplish.

After having released a track on "Sudbeats Vol. 2", the always consistent Cid Inc makes his long over due Sudbeat solo release.

"Temazcal" is a groovy little number, deep and chunky and full of swagger. The muted bass sounds encapsulate your mind, before a luscious soundscape unfurls as the dreamy tinkles cascade like a warm blanket of sound. The combination of these elements generates a mystical hazy feeling of beauty, and is mesmerising.

"Response" is a hypnotising and warm, subtly layered gem. This is a masterpiece for the mind as it crystal clear production leaps out at you, creating an almost 3D vortex of sound, and all the while, the track is gently building creating tension and atmosphere as it meanders effortlessly and beautifully as a perfect dance floor moment.

And the already known ‘Fragile Circle’ closes the package. This track doesn’t need much of an introduction, as it was one of the gems included in the outstanding Hernan Cattaneo’s Balance and has been played by Hernan himself all over the world during the album tour.

In 2014, Tash - a Greek producer and Movement Recordings honcho has teamed up with a talented Mexican artist Uvo and now they are presenting a very special track - Enosis. The Dub mix was originally featured on 'Summer Aesthetics' in July and received an outstanding support. Now comes the followup ep , which includes 2 magnificent remixes.
Canadian producer Navid Mehr (Sudbeat, Proton, Sound Avenue) delivers a top notch production with lots of soul and inspiration, followed by a powerful and uplifting rework by Italian Danny Lloyd (Lowbit, Dopamine).

We are both very happy to welcome back Marino Canal on Siamese. Everyone remembers his first record for us well, a timeless yet forward thinking and fresh release that's tough to beat. Marino made it possible though, his upcoming `Provenance` EP is a clear evolution of his style, mature, intelligent and ready for 2020.

'Curious Eyes' is the track we received first. We’re playing it since quite a while and it easily stood the test of time. Marino’s gift of creating energetic and powerful yet lush tracks is very unique and this song surely tells a story. Truly a great piece of modern dance music. 

Next is ‚Provenance‘, the title track of the EP. Similar to 'Curious Eyes‘ it starts gentle while giving the selector some time and space for mixing
and creating something artful while playing this out. As the deep and mellow chords soak you into the track the remaining layers are steering towards the climax where ‚Provenance' reveals its full potential. And before its even finished you want to hear it all over again.

'Dreamt of Tomorrow‘, the final cut of the release makes it even harder to pick a favorite and we're considering if we should have kept at least one track for the next
EP. Kidding aside, there’s nothing stopping Marino’s ever evolving expertise and this track resembles how a dream of tomorrow could feel like. Beauty, hope and kindness on one hand, madness, destruction and anger on the other. A perfect way to close a great record and there could be no better entry into 2020 for Siamese.

The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Ruben Karapetyan to the label or his debut single. Born in Armenia and now based in California, Ruben has a long history in electronic music. Best known for his DJ Darky alias, the Hollywood resident shared the stage with famous artists like Sasha and Digweed, Sven Vath and Orbital as part of lineups at legendary events such as Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) , Together as One (biggest NY party in America ), AgeHa in Tokyo Japan, VNVNC Concert Hall in St. Petersburg and Pravda in Moscow, Russia. Operating under a variety of production monikers, Ruben has remixed The Cure's 'Forest', while his original productions were routinely championed by the underground's top tastemakers. Now following a ten-year hiatus Ruben returns to electronic music via Movement Recordings with 'Gignesthai', alongside remixes from Stan Kolev and Emi Galvin.

Beginning with the Original Mix, Ruben draws on the peak time dynamics which shaped the early part of his career. It's tough, driving groove commands a big presence, adorned with detailed percussion, rolling rhythms and soulful overlays. Cross cultural motifs advance the narrative across the first act, before coming to full fruition during the main break. Haunting and emotive in equal measure, the centerpiece melts down to a gentle purr, before muted beats rise towards a classy drop and chugging finale.

The first interpretation of 'Gignesthai' is provided by Stan Kolev who returns to the label for his second appearance. The Bulgarian artist made his Movement Recordings debut in June of 2018 with a remix of 'The Swarm' by Marc DePulse. A staple in Beatport's progressive house charts, Stan is one of the most prolific and consistent artists in the genre's history. Now in a year highlighted by releases for Sudbeat Music, UV and his own Outta Limits imprint, Stan returns to Movement with a huge rendition of 'Gignesthai'. Opting for a fuller, more robust groove, the Bulgarian artist focuses on a strong rhythmic narrative, resulting in a great complement to the original. Commanding yet mysterious, it's reprocessed motifs and growling synth swells make for an intense first act, before the main break shifts the narrative into emotive territory. Poignant chord changes billow below as a rush of noise and classy modulation cues a powerful drop.
